Fall Fair showmanship competitions is not easy at the best of times. It has to be extra
difficult when your 4-1-i calf is a full-grown bull, as this young competitor found out during

Moratorium declared
on FCC foreclosures
Agriculture Minister John Wise has
declared an immediate moratorium on Farm
Credit Corporation (FCC) foreclosure ac-
tions. . -
"1 want to make sure that no farmer will be
forced off the farm while I am reviewing the
role and mandate of FCC, the Bruce -Grey
Debt Review Board pilot project report and
reports from FCC Appeal Board Chairmen.
"I want to make sure that those individuals
who might be assisted by new initiatives will
Conscious effort should
have that nnnnrtunitv," explained Mr. Wise.
As of today, there are approximately 670
FCC foreclosure cases in progress which will
be put on hold. Over the past six months FCC
has initiated an average of 14 foreclosure
actions a week. Recovery actions will
continue in cases where the farm has been
abandoned, where bankruptcy has been
declared, where there has been a voluntary
transfer of title or quit claim or where
recovery action is initiated by another
creditor forcing FCC to protect its security.
be made to judge quality
Each time we buy an article whether large
or small, costly or inexpensive, we should be
maldn) a conscious effort to judge its
suitability, its quality and its worth.
On Thursday, September 19, 90 4-H
members from Huron, Perth, Middlesex
Elgin, Oxford, Kent and Essex countie§ did
just that. They met at the Talbotville
livestock Exchange for a morning of
judging. Classes of soybeans, dairy cows,
market steers, blue jeans, school lunches
were judged and general prizes were
answered.
After a busy morning, 4-H members went
on to the Plowing Match while behind the
scenes people tabulated results in order to
have awards ready to hand out at the
evening banquet.
Huron County Award went to Jeff
Gemmel! - junior winner of the identification
quiz. Congratulations. All other 21 4-H
members from Huron put forth a very good
effort as well.
The event was sponsored by Pioneer
Hi -Bred Ild. and the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food.
