This has been one of the busiest Legion
weeks the Branch has had in years. The
general meeting was held Wednesday
evening with our President Jack Muir in the
chair. It was decided to donate a trophy to
the lawn bowling club for invitational
tournament play. A donation to the Institute
for the Blind was approved also. The date for
the Zone meeting is Sunday, October 6 at
1:15 p.m. in Wingham. Aparade will be held
prior to the meeting. The District meeting
will be held in Owen Sound on October 19
and 20. Anyone wishing to go for both days,
let Jack Muir know right away.
On Thursday evening the girls competing
for the title of Queen of the Fair held their
final competition. The winner was Sandra
Hunt with Lucille Delaney 1st runner-up and
Rosie Van Dyk was second runner-up. AU'
the girls were a credit to their sponsors and
should be congratulated for their efforts. We
hone t"e girls benefited from their experi-
ence.
The musical "We'll Meet Again" was
very well received bythe audience at the
High School Friday evening. A lot of songs
,of the war years were heard once again to
the delight of the audience and were sorry to
f'•?e it come to an end. On behalf of the
Branch I would like to thank those who
offered their homes to billet the members of
the cast who stayed over. Seaforth Golf Club
also played host to thoseof the cast who
enjoy a game of golf. This was very much
appreciated by the members of the Legion
and the cast. We hope something .like this
can be staged in Seaforth again in the futute.
The Branch would like to thank all the
members who helped in any way to make
this event such a success especially the
Ladies of the Auxiliary who provided lunch
for the cast and members despite the fact
they were catering to a banquet at the same
time. Thanks girls you came through bnce
again. Thanks also should go to the staff at
the High School who so willingly helped with
the setting up of the chairs and such at the
High School.
To finish off Legion week our Ladies
Auxiliary served a delicious meal on Sunday
afternoon to almost 200 guests. Those who
gave up their Sunday to work and make this
possible deserve a vote of thanks from the
rest of us,
This Saturday, the Legion is offering the
old auditorium chairs for sale. There are
some 200 chairs available at five dollars each
and take your choice. The sale starts at nine
o'clock and ends at noon. Anyone wishing
chairs please plan to. be there if possible.
Most of these chairs are in good condition.
The Ladies Auxiliary are going on their
annual bus trip this weekend. Ladies please
he at the hall promptly at 8:45 a.m. so that
we can leave at the scheduled time.
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will remember them.

When I could not walk. You helped me stand
When they said "you can't". You gently
said, "you can"
When they said "you'll never speak" You
stood and spoke for me,
When they said "The world is blind"
Yn,i proved the world can see
And when they talk of hate and war
And see Only the pain and strife
You can look at me and know
You gave the greatest gift
"You gave me back my life'"
