A report presented at the June 18 meeting of the Perth County board of education showed that the courses involved just didn'! have enough student enrolment to justi,y their existence. The courses being cancelled for this coming school year and the number of students interested in taking the course are as follows: Grade 11 family studies (nutrition ) eight; Grade 11 family studies (clothing and textiles), 14; Grade 12 family studies, five; Grade 12 geography, nine; Grade 12 history, 13; Grade 12 French, eight; Grade 12 German, 12; Grade 13 German, seven ; Grade 12 data processing, 11; and Grade 12 management studies, 18. In the spring, Mr. Ward had told of phone calls he had received complaining of the cancellation of the German classes. The school board's report indicated the students were less concerned about the cancellation of the classes then were the parents. Mr. Ward said that is normal. "I'd like to register my disappointment that we haven't been able to find some alternative," said Mr. Ward. listowe; trustee Bert Johnson added his disappointment, more towards the trend of cutting out such courses as family studies while computer programs flourish.
