Ball's Cemetery Memorial Day set for July 1
Gloria Wilbee led the morning
worship at Londesborough United
Church on Sunday, June 17. The
theme of her service was "Put Your
Hand in the Hand" .
During the children's time, Ken
Scott traced his hand on a paper and
then a smaller hand was traced
inside to show how a father's
hand/love surrounds a child.
Similarly our heavenly Father's love
surrounds all of us. Like a tiny
mustard seed, love grows and grows.
Then Gloria accompanied herself to
sing "Daddy's Hands".
In her message to the adults, in
recognition of Father's Day, Mrs.
Wilbee reminded congregants that,
as parents, all of us make mistakes.
Because we are human we make
mistakes, we go astray and have
regrets. She encouraged everyone to
turn to God, to put their hand in His
and let Him guide them.
We are all children of God and we
need to be humble and grateful for
His love and caring that allows us to
be human. He forgives us when we
turn to Him for atonement. In spite
of today's open society and
differences in generations, Gloria
reminded congregants to just show
love and understanding to their
children and they will appreciate our
efforts.
The power in a mustard seed
represents the power in God's love.
With the help of Mrs. Wilbee
everyone sang "Put Your Hand in the
Hand".
In her tribute to Rev. Fletcher
Gloria sang "Precious Memories"
and assured everyone to keep their
memories of him close to our hearts.
She particularly mentioned his

special concert earlier this month. The concert featured students playing insturments and
pieces they had spent months practising. From left: Marley Fleet, Catherine Fielding, Axeton

Fletcher's passing mourned
The faith communities of
Londesborough United and Knox
United of Auburn are grieving the
loss of their minister, Rev. Terry
Fletcher. Terry took a leave of
absence from our pulpits in early
April to have a heart operation.
There were complications from this
surgery and on June 5 Terry went to
be with God.
Terry came to minister to our
congregations as a student minister
in 2009. He was a good fit, so to
speak, for our two rural communities
and we watched him grow in his
ministry while appreciating his
humble manner, his gentleness,
kindness, compassion, versatility
and talents. This was not Terry's first
career and he brought to the ministry
a wealth of knowledge from his
former experiences and travels. His
Sunday messages always gave one
food for thought for the week ahead.
Terry had a love for a wide range
of music and shared his singing,
guitar playing and hymn writing. We
have lost a very special minister and
friend whose presence will have a
long influence on our personal and
church lives. As Rev. Colin Snyder
of Huron -Perth Presbytery noted at
his funeral, all who knew him were
fortunate to have had their lives
intersect with his.
Terry's children speak of their
dad's never-ending quest for
knowledge, his love of reading, his
wonder with nature and his talent as
a musician and illustrator. Terry felt
the true purpose of life is to create
and appreciate the creativity of
others. He gave them the gift of
imagination while always
supporting them in all aspects of
their lives. They vow to let the spark
he left in each of them grow and to
share it with others.
Fletchers, in a time long ago, got
their name as a result of being arrow
makers. The feathers on an arrow
which guide it are called `tletch'.
Sometimes his children referred to
Terry as `Fletch'. His `fletch'/arrow
will be guiding the folk of his
congregations forward for a long
time.
Craft, vendor show
set for June 23
One of the last posters affixed to
the bulletin board at the post office
was advertising a "Spring into
Summer Craft and Vendor Show"

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the
Londesborough Community Hall.
I contacted Michelle Cain of
Londesborough for more

from around Huron and Perth
Counties. Some are quilters,
jewellery makers and handcrafted
decor vendors, etc. Also featured
will be Avon sellers and Thirty -One
Bags vendors, etc.
There will be a lunch booth
operated by the Londesborough
Lions Club. Monies raised from the
booth and the vendor tables will
help the club.
kindness in reaching out to help and
reassure others. Flowers on the
memorial table were placed in
Terry's memory by Huron/Perth
Presbytery.
Under the direction of Marsha
Szusz, the senior choir sang the
hymn, "In My Heart There Rings a
Melody".
David Kai will be the guest
speaker on Sunday, June 24.
Londesborough United will be on
holidays for the month of July.
Members are encouraged to enjoy
