Funeral set June 16 for the late Rev. Terry Fletcher
of her anxiety from the storm. Nancy
encouraged those present to look
through the heartache, fears and
uncertainty life brings and find
God's glory, power and promise. She
recited pertinent verses from both
Bible Testaments - Job 37:5, Matt.
24:7, Rev. 1 and Gen. 9:13.
In closing both Paul and Nancy
assured our faith community that we
will be okay because God is with us.
The senior choir, with the
direction of Marsha Szusz, sang the
familiar hymn, "He Touched Me".

Paul and Nancy Buttar led the
morning service at Londesborough
United Church on Sunday, June 10.
Their service message was titled
"Seeing God Through the Storms of
Life". It was a most appropriate
service for a congregation that is
grieving the death of its minister.
Rev. Terry Fletcher passed away
on Tuesday, June 5 after nearly two
months in hospital dealing with the
aftermath of a heart operation. A
funeral service will be held in
Londesborough United Church at 2
p.m. on Saturday, June 16. A time of
visitation is scheduled from noon
that day until the time of the service.
A reception will follow at the
Londesborough Community Hall.
Condolences were received from
Rev. Colin Snyder on behalf of
Huron -Perth Presbytery.
Hymns chosen for the service
reflected the idea that God is an
anchor through all the storms of life.
The scripture passage read by Paul
was Mark 4:35-41, verses which told
of Jesus calming the storm when He
and His disciples were aboard a boat
on the Sea of Galilee.
Nancy assured congregants that
God "gets" that we are sad and
struggling with the death of Rev.
Terry Fletcher and He is ready to
receive all their grieving and
questioning. And she reminded them
that even when we don't feel His
presence, He is still there for each of
them.
Then Nancy told the personal
experience of driving home late one
summer afternoon after a very
pleasant day in Exeter. She
encountered a nasty summer storm
which frightened her. As the rain
pelted her car she tried to look/think
beyond her fear and the line of cars.
She recognized God's power in the
thunder and the amazing light show.
Then God revealed His promise to
the world and His glory in the form
of a beautiful rainbow.
These evidences of God's
presence brought her a sense of
peace and gave her calmness in spite

I am hoping village folk are
becoming familiar with their new
mail location/process. Something
extra I wanted to note that may help
you out. Outgoing mail was being
picked up at Radford's Farm
Equipment at 3:30 p.m. or
thereabouts each afternoon. Now
your outgoing mail gets picked up
by the rural driver in the morning.
This means that mail may lose a day.
So if you have time -sensitive
correspondence you should get it to
Blyth or Clinton by 2 p.m.

The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority hosted a workshop on biodiversity at Hullett
Central Public School last week. Students participated in activities like identifying trees
through needles and recognizing animal skulls, like T.J. Powell, left, and Oliver Sawchuk
demonstrated above. (Denny Scott photo)
