Legion parade held
at Blyth church

declining in membership of the
churches.
These past few weeks we have
watched farmers plant their fields
and we saw those tiny seeds turn
into plants. Many times we are
asked to do something at the church
and we come up with many excuses.
God gave each of us a gift to be us.
If we never plant the seed it will
never grow.
Many of us remember our
younger children coming home with
beans, cup and soil to plant the
beans in. The children can hardly
wait for the beans to sprout and
start to grow. God wants us to
reach deep to the spirit inside us
and to share what we find.
In the Bulb There is a Flower", a
hymn that tells the story of "Bloom
Where You Are Planted" was sung.
The offering was received followed
by the offertory response "What Can
I Do?" the offertory prayer, the
prayers for the people said
responsively and the silent prayers
in the response.
The last hymn "Take Me As 1 Am"
was followed by the benediction and
the retrieving of the Legion colours,
the singing of "God Save the
Queen" and the recession of the
Legion members.
Everyone was invited for coffee
and snacks and to meet with the
Legion members.

It is hard to keep everyone happy,
as some farmers are still planting,
some are still spraying and some are
praying for rain to help the crops
thrive. The heat was great and made
things really grow, but a little
moisture would be great. There
certainly was a change in
temperature on the weekend,
especially Monday morning. Yikes
had to get the heavy sweater on!
Good thing we are all so adaptable!
The Lions Club held another very
successful elimination draw on the
weekend. There were fewer Walton
winners this year, but we
congratulate the McGavin children
of Jacob, MacKenzie and Teegan for
winning the top prize of $5,000.
Other Walton winners included John
Gillis, Jeff and Tracey McKee, John
and Karen Braecker and Ken and
Anne Williamson. Congratulations
to all!
We are pleased to hear Leona
Armstrong is doing well and is
awaiting her transfer to Seaforth
Hospital for her daily rehab for her
hip. She is in good spirits and is
determined to get going! Sounds like
Leona!
We wish Edna Pletch a speedy
recovery and hopefully home from
hospital soon.
We send Doug Mitchell our
wishes for a speedy resolve to his
hip surgery. It is a two -fold process
for him and so it will take extra time.
We hope he comes along quickly.
We send our get -well wishes and
speedy recovery wishes to Joe
Dewartz as he is in hospital
following a deer/motorcycle
collision. He will be awhile
recovering from several injuries he
sustained.
Congratulations to Irma Pryce
who celebrated a milestone birthday
last week. The family gathered at the
Crossroads restaurant in Elmira for a
dinner then returned to Gord and
Irma's for a social time. Celebrating
were sister Shirley and Jim
Coleman, brother Carman and Mary
Bernard, daughter Kathy and Jim
Butson and grandchildren Sara and
Wade, Jenn and Taylor and Braden.
Congratulations on reaching 70!
The Walton Raceway was a busy
place on the weekend with the Steel
City Motocross club using the
facilities. They had nearly 100
campers on site and racing was for
the young and old. They had a great
time.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week were Scott Henderson, Neil
McGavin, Kyle Pryce, Patricia
Andrades, Ernie Lewington, Shelley
Coleman, Scott Dalton, Jillian
Houston, Amanda McClure, Merle
Hackwell, Sarah Tipple, Jacob
McGavin and Sharon Stephenson.
Happy birthday to all!
