The Blyth Artisan Market's soft
launch on May 31 has been deemed
a success according to organizer
Amy Zoethout.
The market, a Blyth Business
Improvement Area (BIA) initiative
that received funding from Regional
Tourism Ontario 4's
DestinationBLYTH program, offers
not only vendors one might find at a
farmers' market setting, but also an
avenue for local makers to share
their wares.
Zoethout said the event was well
received.
"It went really, really great," she
said. "I wasn't sure what to expect,
because you never know with
something new. I was pleased with
the number of people that came out
to support the makers we had there
for the first night"
The event will feature food
starting at its June 7 grand opening
with the addition of vendors Blyth
Farm Cheese and Blyth Creek
Maple Farm.
The temporary space, located in
the alley behind the Blyth Legion
and Blyth Memorial Hall, is slightly
hidden, Zoethout said, but the
market and BIA are working to

Phillips encourages growth
Greeting worshippers at Blyth
United Church on Sunday June 3,
2018 was Nicole Kerr. Ushering
were Donna Moore and Nicole Kerr.
Marilyn Scott was organist and
Katie Dockstader, choir director.
Emily Phillips welcomed
everyone to church and especially
the members of the Blyth Legion
Ladies Auxiliary and members of
the Legion along with members of
the Goderich Legion. The members
of the Legion paraded to their seats.
"0' Canada" was sung and the
Legion placed the colours at the
front of the church.
Emily drew everyone's attention
to the announcements printed in the
bulletin and added a few more.
Emily asked the congregation to
greet one another. The opening
hymn was "Sing a Happy
Hallelujah." Emily lit the Christ
candle on the altar table. The call to
worship was repeated responsively
followed by the prayer of approach
repeated responsively and the
singing of the Lord's Prayer. The
next hymn, "All Things Bright and
Beautiful" was sung.
The scripture reading was from 11
Timothy 2: 20 -21 read out of an
older version and then out of a
modern day version of the Bible.
The choir sang the anthem "The
Earth is the Lord's" with Cappy Onn
accompanying with the violin.
The message that Emily had for
the congregation was "Bloom Where
You are Planted." This was a
message from London conference.
In the scriptures, Paul is writing to
Timothy to give him assurance. In
the 1960s congregations noticed the

It is a large family!
(Letters of John Newton)
"But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be
lovers of SELF.." 2 Timothy 3:1-2
Take care of SELF --this is the worst enemy we have to deal with:
self-will,
self -wisdom,
self-righteousness,
self-seeking,
self' dependence,
self -boasting!
It is a large family! I cannot reckon up all the branches, but they are all closely
related to Satan --they are all sworn enemies to our peace.
If we lie low, then the Lord will raise us up. But if we will be something, then His
arm will surely pull us down.
"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old SELF,
which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires." Ephesians 4:22

He'll be joined by a hand drummer.
"We're looking forward to the
