These are just two reasons the community is encouraged to honor all those who have endeavored to keep the citizens of this country safe for decades as well as those who continue to do so on a daily basis. The Village of Bayfield will observe Remembrance Day on Nov. 5 starting at 10:45 a.m. at the cenotaph in Clan Gregor Square. Bayfield's services are held on the Sunday prior to Nov. 11, when musicians and clergy can avail themselves to the smaller centres. The ceremony will begin with a parade of veterans, legion representatives, and local members of Guiding and Scouting marching along Main Street to the cenotaph. The St. Joseph and Area Historical Society will be hosting a Remembrance Day Service at St. Joseph Memorial Park on Saturday, Nov. 11. All are welcome to visit the St. Joseph, ON community for this service starting at 11 a.m. NAFTEL' S CREEK SETTING FOR OCTOBER BRVTA HIKE A dozen hikers enjoyed the beauty of a fall morning A dozen hikers enjoyed the beauty of a fall morning at Naftel's Creek Conservation Area on Oct. 26 on one of the Bayfield River Valley Trail Association's (BRVTA) regularly scheduled hikes. Undaunted by fallen trees across the path and wet leaves causing slippery conditions on the boardwalk the group gamely explored the terrain and admired the fall colors. Pausing by memorial plaques on large stones deep within the woods, participants learned the story of John Hindmarsh and his love of the area from his longtime friend Jane Davidson, who just happened to be along on the hike. They then followed the loop that led to a rustic cabin in the woods where they were lucky enough to meet and thank its present owner for his generosity in allowing them to walk through his enchanting SAVE OUR ICE We Support rl71 =,'I I'M BAVFIELD S fit F Signs are popping up on village lawns and in the surrounding area as the "One Vision One Plan" campaign progresses. It was a hidden treasure just nine miles to the south of where I grew up on the 4th Concession of Goderich Twp. My sphere was very small in those days. It was, however, a wonderful discovery that altered the course my life's path would take for the next three decades. And for the last nearly three years I have even had the opportunity to live within the village limits. Tonight will mark our last night doing so. For with tomorrow's dawn I am going home. Back to the land my ancestors cleared in 1832 to make a life for my family for generations to come on what is now known as Orchard Line. John and I are looking forward to being the next caretakers of the farm.
