ed at the sawmill which is being operat-
ed by Messrs Cottle & Son, on Monday,

just before closing time. The large fly-
wheel of the engine broke into a number
of pieces, which flew in all directions
So great was the strain that the bed
of the engine was completely torn
up. Mr. Cottle had an almost mir-

the wheel went through the end of the
mill at the very place where he had been
adjusting a belt not one minute before.
The repairs which are necessary to put
the engine into running shape again will
reqnire an expenditure of several hun-
dreds of dollars, but the owners are
men of push and ability and we expect
it will soon be in operation again.
