A convention of the Liberals of the South Riding of Bruce will be held in Formosa on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 1.30 p. m., for the purpose of transacting general business, electing officers, and the selecting of a candidate to contest the riding in the interests of the party. in the coming election. it The Canadian ship of stateexchanged pilots Friday afternoon. Sir Wilfrid Laurier stepped off the quarterdeck at 3 o'clock after weathering the storms of fifteen years, conscious that his difficult task has been nobly done. Three hours later Mr. Borden accepted the invitat- ion of his Majesty's representative to become the new pilot. The price of wheat in the Winnipeg grain exchange dropped immediately two cents per bushel when reciprocity was rejected, and the price in Minnea- polis jumped six cents. Every western farmer can understand what that means when he gets his returns from bis' wheat. Oats on the Winnipeg market dropped nearly two cents, and barley slumped five cents. The rejeetion of reciprocity will mean the loss of sever- al millions I ons of dollars to the western farmers this year. -Grain Growers'. His following is already 40- large otarge as to embarrass hila, Why should he seek; by a snap verdict to increase it? ,A great ;and undisciplined majority is a menace not only to the good government of the province, but to "the he Premiers personal reputation and to the health and vigor of the party of which he is the leader, Dissolution at the present moment would be an unwarrantable disturbance of business throughout the province, as well as a violation of every sound maxim of statesmanship. - Toronto Globe. The Toronto Star, commenting on Mr. Borden's cabinet says: -"The al- liance between Mr, Bordeu and the Nationalists is apparent in the forma- tion of the cabinet. Monk, Nantel, Pelletier, all three Nationalists, are taken into the cabinet and all have portfolios,. Ontario's representation is weak, While Mr, White's appoint- ment will rankle in the hearts of Con- servatives, and while Cons$rvatives themselves declare that his whole men- tal attitude is pro -corporation, he is unquestionably a more able man than either Col. Sam Hughes or Dr. Reid Although these Inen have had the polit- ical experience which Mr. White altq- gether lecke, they are not regarded in their own party as men of marked abil- ity. As for Ur. Law, second daughter of Mrs. M. J. Law, and Mr. George H. Lowry, 1, eldest son of Mr, and Mrs. W. H. Low- ho ry, were united in the holy bonds , E of matrimony, Promptly at twelve o'clock, to the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march played by Miss Hamil- ton, the bride entered the spacious drawing room leaning on the arm of her uncle, Mr. Jas. Hamilton, who gave her away. She looked very pretty in her wedding gown of cream silk eiol- ienne, trimmed with Chantilly lace and pearl and gold trimming and carried a boquet of bridal roses and maiden -hair fern. The only ornament worn was a pearl crescent, the gift of the groom. Rev. J. S. McMillan performed the ceremony, After partaking of a dain- tily prepared dinner the happy couple left on the afternoon train for Toronto, Niagara and other points, the bride travelling in a navy blue suit with hat to match. The numerous and valuable gifts received show the lie high esteem in which the young couple are held in the community. Cured Th. ()ugh the Ilse of ll Williams' Fink Pills, Chorea, or as it is more generally known, St. Vitus dance, is a disease that usually sttaeks the young children. though older persons may be afflicted with 1t. Its most common symptoms are a twitching of the muscles of the face and limbs. As the disease progresses this twitching takes the form of spasms in which the jerking motion may be confined to the head, or all the limbs may be affeeted. The patient is fre- quently unable to hold anything in the hand; or to walk steadily, and in severe cases even the speech is affected, The disease is due to debility of the nerves and is always cured by, Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, which enrich the blood, tone and strengthen the nerves. and thus restore the sufferer to good health. The following is a striking instance of what Dr. Williams' Pink Pills will do in this trouble, Mrs. Chas. Phipps, Pelee Island, Ont , says: --"At thea e of fourteen my eldest daughter, Edith, became much run down, and the trouble developed into St Vitus- dance. First her left arm became affected, then the left leg and entire left side, She grew so bad that she actually soul not hold anything in her hand, an could only` go about with a sliding, jerking mo- tion Notwithstanding at we were giving her medicine, s e seemed to be growing; worse, and natty her speech became much aff d. We became so much alarmed ut her that finally her father got a supply of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, and we began giving her these. In the course of a few weeks she was much better, and before all the pills were gone she was again en- joying perfect health. This was in 19e8, and as she has not had a symptom of the trouble since I feel justified in saying the cure is permanent." Be sure you get the genuine pills which are sold by all medicine dealers or may be had at 50 cents a box or six boxes for $2.50 from The Dr. Williams' Medicine Co., Brockville, Ont.
