A DISCOVERY THAT
IS BENEFITINO
THE WHOLE WORLD
ma.m4.
CANADIAN PHYSICIAN MADE IT
Wonderful New Substance
Formed By Combining
Fruit Juices
It takes Canada to do the really big
things that are being dote. Per
thousands of years, people have known
that fruit was good for them without
Irnoedug exaetly why. A Canadian
physician experimented, until lit found
out.
Fruit juice is about nine -tenths water
and one-tenth solid matter. And this
solid matter is eight -ninths sweet and
one -ninth bitter. It is the bitter
principle that is the curative part of
fruit. To get the full benefit of fruit,
one inu.st eat great quantities of fresh
fruit. By the dis
covery of this Cana.,
dian physician, the
bitter or curing part
of fruit juice is so
combined that it is
made to grow or
increase many
times. In other
words, a stronger
fruit juice is
created, This is

which are known
all over Canada under the name of

it were not for 'Frait-a-tives' I am
satisfied 1 could not live".
Chronic Consti.
pation means Para,

There are two
layers of muscles
in thebowels which
duringconstipation

weak and cannot
act. In severe
cases, people go
three and even ten
days without the
bowels moving. N. 111"/"8"7
JOUBERT Essa, of
Grande Ligne, Que. says "I heartily
recommend 'Fruit-a-tives' to all who
suffer with Constipation".
a liquid
secreted by the
liver, is the purga-
tive of the body.
Two pints of bile
should be poured
into the bowels
every, day. In
severe constipation
only about half a
pint is secreted.
With the muscles

end little bile, it is impossible for the
bowels to move regularly. A. G. WIL-

"I tried 'Fruit -skives' and now / ani
well from Chronic Constipation from
which suffered for man' years".
To cure Cons.
tipation, the liver
must be 'dumb. -

more bile and the
weak muscles
strengthened.

SMART FLANNEL BLOUSES,
The business girl should not fail to
include two or three plain tailored
flannel waists in her fall and winter
wardrobe.
On a damp, chilly morning these
light flannels will be found extremely
comfortable and with a tailored suit
there is no smarter blouse.'
The flannels come in any ntimber of
patterns, the prettiest being the strip-
ed effects like those used in flannel
shirtsfor men.
Gray is popular, both plain and as 43.
background for white, violet, blue,
rose and green stripes.
A cream and deep lavender flannel
with the. stripes of equal width is good,
as is also this same design in cream
with black, navy or delft blue, brown
or red.
Brown and tan striped flannel, in
which the stripes are a quarter of an
inch wide is striking with a brown suit.
Some girls favor the flannel waist to
the exclusion of lingerie, linen or cot-
ton fabrics, for they have both the
advantage of laundering nicely and of
warmth.
• With stiff white collar or soft self -
collar and cuffs in the French style
and a bright tie the flannel shirt is the
pride and comfort of the well-dressed
business girl.
A little Stratford lad was given too
much underdone pie for supper and
was soon roaring lustily. 1Iis mother's
visitor was visibly disturbed. "If he
were my child," she said, "he'd get a
good sound spanking." "He deserves
it," the mother admitted, "but I don't
believe in spanking him on a full stom-
ach." Neither do 1,;' said the visitor,
"but I'd turn him 'over."
When married at Wallace, Pa. a few
days ago, Matthew Watson and Mary
Mack] of Kingston, used a license bear-
ing the date of September, 1908. Three
years ago they became engaged. They
set their wedding day; he procured the
license and then on the eve of the cere-
mony they quarrelled, and changed
their plans. They became reconciled,
however, and recently they again de-
cided to wed. The bridegroom brought
forth the original license, musty Mit
