The little son of, Albert Thacker of
con. 12, Culross, while playing about
the mower with a nuneber of other
children, received a nasty cut on Ms
left leg. The knife of the mower was
in an upright position, but somehow
became detached and in falling the
guards caught the little fellow on the
leg, tearing the flesh horribly,

Mrs, Robb, of Barrie,is here on a
visit at the parental home, 6th line.
She is the eldest .daughter. of :Tames
and Mrs. Davis,
Mrs. E.E. W. Mills and two children,
of Grand Forks, P. C., and Miss Mary
Smith are visiting their sister, Mrs. F.
H. Kerney, 4th line.

here on a visit from the West. Mrs.
Scott is a daughter of R. Bewley, 7th
line. It is six years since they were
here. -
Tuesday of last. week Mr. James
Davis, 5th line, underwent a medical
operation and her many friends will be
pleased to know that she is making
favorable progress.
Ex -Councillor W, H. McCutcheon,
6th line, owns a very industrious. hen
who not only gets busy in providing
one egg a day but does stunts of two a
day on 'various occasions, She evi-
dently has her eye on the market re-
port.

The Council met in Belgrave, July
26; members all present; minutes of
last meeting read and passed.
The Treasurer's half -yearly state-
ment to June 80th showing a balance
on hand at date of $851.77,received
and Med.
The Collector presented his bond, the
same being accepted as satisfactory.
Directors were again present, solie t-
ing aid from the township on behalf of
the Blyth Fall Fair, but the Council, .as.
formerly, were firm in their refusal in
giving any assistance and the request
was accordingly refused,
The Treasurer was instructed to ad-
vertise for sale of bridge debentures;
tenders on same, it is expected, will be
opened at next meeting of Cou eil.
Communication from Co. Clerk Lane
received, stating that the amount re-
quired from the township this year for
county purposes was $2728,15, being
$820.95 more than last year, This ex-
tra for county rate, along; with the ad-
ditional payments made necessary in
connection with the building of river
bridges show plainly that the ratepay-
ers of East Wawanosh must expect an
increase in their taxes for 1911 at all
events. The usual rates to be struck
to raise the necessary amounts requir-
ed laid over till next meeting.
By Law No. 6, 1911. ratifying the
appointment of Collector and By Law
No. 7, 1911, authorizing the Collector
to charge and collect 3 per cent extra
on all taxes remaining unpaid after the
15th of December next, both read and
passed,

Druggist Robt. Work is home from
Toronto fora holiday visit for a, few
weeks. He likes the city but/ it does
not increase his avoirdupoise very not-
iceably.,
C. and Mrs. Bennett and children,
of Arcola, Assa., are here on a visit at
Thos/Davidson's, 11th con. Mrs. Ben-
nett is a daughter. Mr. Bennett 'has
disposed of his half section and crop,
stock, etc., so will take a holiday for a
time. He had the farm 12 or 15 years.
We hope to see them continue here as
permanent residents. ,

Miss Clara MacKersie visited her
sister, Mrs, Baker Sunday evening.

ting the spring grain.
Mr, John Gemmill has purchased a
fine ciyde team of bores.
Miss Martha Langley is at present
visiting the home of Mr. Wm. Mac-
Kersie. •
Miss Ethel Hooey, Niagara Falls, is
visiting at the home of Mr, Jas. Naylie.

The following from the Winnipeg Free
Press of July 24th, refers to the mar-
riage of a son of Mr. Jas, Elliott of the
4th of Turnberry Dr.. Elliott gradu-
ated from the Manitoba University last
spring:—"On Wednesday a very pretty
wedding was solemnized at the home
of the bride's mother, Mrs. Joan Jack-
son, three miles from. Alexander, when
her youngest daughter, Josie, was
united in marriage with Dr. William J.
Elliott, of Minto, Man. The ceremony
took place on the• lawn and was perfor-
med•by Rev. George Lockhart, Presby-
terian minister, in the presence of over
80 guests. The bride was given away
by her brother, Mr, Hugh ;Jackson,
and wore a rich cream dress of liberty
satin, trimmed with handsome silk
fringe and rose point lace. She car-
ried a bouquet of cream roSes and lilies
of the valley and wore the •customary
veil, fastened with lilies of the valley.
Her only ornament was a necklace of
pearls and amethysts. After the cere-
mony luncheo i was served. The bride
was the recipient of 'many beautiful
and costly presents. .After luncheon
Dr. and Mrs. Elliott left by auto for
Brandon. The wedding trip includes
Winnipeg, Kenora and other eastern
points and after August 15 they will be
at home at Minto, Man."
