Has Two New Hands, Neil Campbell, of Ashfield, who has been for nearly a year in the helpless condition of a man without both hands, has now secured two substitutes for those he lost. They are not so good as the old ones and never will be; but they are remarkable pieces of mechan- ism in their way, and likely to add much to the comfort of their wearer. To describe them intelligently is almost impossible. They work on a Oaten of hooks, hinges and levers, so arranged that the ordinary motions of the elbow cause them to close and grasp articles. In both there are sockets for the inser- tion of knife and fork for eating pur- poses, and on one is a spec 1 hook for lifting a drinking utensi. Awkward: though they appear to be, ..,eir capab- ilities are considerable, and their grasp- ing power is very great; so great in- deed, that if they ever grasped human flesh, it would never break away again without being torn from its fastenings. he t are hands s Curiously enough, these invention and product of a mail who, himself equipped with pit makes •hood Toronto, was Mr. L.
