The anneal Provincial report of the agricnitnral societies, just issued, re•ycords the fact that during the past year the number of societies entered in the standing field crops competition had in - (tressed by 64 per cent. The reports of the judges show that there is considerable attention being paid by farmers to securing better and purer seed grain, and also to improved cultivation of the land and the eradica- tion of weeds. The report expresses anxiety over the growth of weeds. "The alarming rate at which the perennial sow thistlespreading over the Province," it de• olares, "mile for strenuous work 0n thepart of farmers in combating this subtle foe. . , . Unless steps are taken at once to oheok it, in a very short time it will be found everywhere." The Department of the Interior has issued a new homestead map of the prairie Provinces, showing at a glance the disposal of lands already taken up and the amount yet available for settle- ment. Now and then she gets into a tight place and needs helping out. Things get started in the wrong direction. Something is needed to check disease and start the system . in the right direction toward health. Scott's Emulsion of Cod Liver Oil with hypo- phosphites can do just this.
