The Wingham Pablio Sehoel Board
met in regular cession 011 Tuesday even-
ing, all the members being present
and the chairman, Trustee H, E, Isard,
presiding. The prinoipal'u report for
Janrtary showed the number of bole 10
be 143; girls, 164; total, 307, with an
average attendance of 230. The follgw•

of tesohers and caretaker, were ordered
to be paid:--Waterratea, $10.00; Hunter
Bridge & Boiler Cie., expense of man 1

Currie, repairs, $3.85. Mr. P, Buchan-

house and lot on Carling Terrane to Mr.

meet in the Orange hall. Winghau', on

—Lent began yesterday and Easter
Sunday will be March 27th. March
20th will be Palm Sunday and Good

—The Trams is pleased to report that
Mrs. R. S. McGee is making au excel-
lent recovery atter the operation and
her numerous friends hope to see her
able to be around again in a short time.
—Mr. Richard Anderson has sold his
house and lot, corner of Victoria and
Frances streets to Mr, John McCallum,
ar., of East Wawanosh, Mr. McCallum
intends retiring from the farm and will

—Mr. J. L. Maolaorin, B. A., who has
been supplying at the High Sohool, left
last week to resume his studies at the
Faculty of Eduoation in Toronto. The
new teacher, Mr. Forbes, of Liman, has
taken up his work and will move his
family to town early in April.

Of the Eluevale road, entertained a
number of their friends on Tuesday
evening, in the celebrating of their fifth
wedding anniversary. The happy party
spent a very pleaaaut evening in dancing

On Saturday, 29th ult., there passes
away at her home in this village, one o
the pioneers of Monis township in the
person of Mrd. Wm. Forrest. The de
ceased was born in Islay, Scotland, May
1st, 1830, and Dame to this country it

until the death of her husband, the late
Wm. Forrest, in February, 1897. Po
