Hitting the right note
The wave of donations making their way into the community continued last week when the
International Plowing Match's theme song committee donated $2,000 to the Blyth Festival
Young Company program thanks to their work in writing and performing "Because We're
Farmers" which became not only an anthem for the match, but for the Huron County
community. From left: Murray McCall, Sherry McCall, Jack Storey, Blyth Festival General

NH sets budget
review meeting
North Huron Council has
scheduled a special budget meeting
for April 23 with hopes of finalizing
the 2018 budget before presenting it
in May.
Chief Administrative Officer
Dwayne Evans suggested the
meeting, saying that staff were
working to hit council's requested
annual spending increase of five per
cent. The ask was a daunting one as
council was originally presented
with a budget with a spending
increase in excess of 15 per cent.
Evans, during North Huron
Council's Monday night meeting,
said that, with the additional
information presented by Councillor
Trevor Seip regarding a significantly
changed policing budget for
Wingham the meeting would
provide a chance to finalize budget
discussions.
"We want to update council on
where we're currently at," he said,
adding council will have an
opportunity to provide any last-
minute direction for staff to include
in the budget at an upcoming council
meeting.
Council's next regular meeting is
set for May 7.
