Huron East to establish line -painting policy By Shawn Loughlin The Citizen Huron East Public Works Manager Barry Mills is looking to establish a new policy for road line painting throughout the municipality. Mills spoke to the issue at council's March 20 meeting. This came after an empassioned presentation from a Front Road resident who felt the road needed a centre line painted on it before something catastrophic happened there. The establishment of a policy, he said, would keep the municipality on task as far as line painting is concerned and would dictate which roads should be painted and which ones shouldn't. Mills said he is hoping to have a draft version of the policy prepared for council's second meeting in April, scheduled for April 17. He said he wouldn't want to rush it and while he thought he might be able to have it ready for the April 2 meeting, he better give it two more weeks to be safe. Without a new painting policy, however, councillors agreed that the line painting on Front Road, as requested in February, could go ahead and Mills agreed. It will cost the municipality just over $1,000 to paint four kilometres of Front Road, which was approved by council. Mills will present his new road line painting policy at council's April 17 meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the municipal office in Seaforth.
