Fed steers, heifers sell on steady market
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending
March 23 were 1,787 cattle and
1,448 lambs and goats. On Tuesday
fed steers and heifers sold actively
on a steady market. Choice steers
and heifers sold $150 to $155 with a
high of $156.75. Second cut sold
$145 to $150. Cows sold on a strong
active trade with prices $1 to $2
higher. On Thursday veal calves sold
on a steady market. Light lambs sold
steady while heavier lambs sold
sharply higher. Goats sold steady.
Sheep sold barely steady. On Friday,
calves sold on a strong active trade at
steady prices. Yearlings sold under
pressure.
Ron Smith of Denfield, consigned
five heifers that averaged 1,331 lbs.
and sold for an average price of
$15 L79. Two black heifers averaged
1,363 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $154. Terry Murray of
Clifford, consigned 11 head that
averaged 1,404 lbs. and sold for an
average price of $148.88. Four
charolais heifers averaged 1,419 lbs.
and sold for an average of $149.50.
Stephen Bowman of Listowel,
consigned seven steers that averaged
1,533 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $149.65. One gold steer
weighed 1,615 lbs. and sold for
$156.75. Francis Riley of Walkerton,
consigned nine steers that averaged
1,557 lbs. and sold for an average
price of $150.76. One black steer
weighed 1,658 lbs. and sold for
$154.
There were 210 cows on offer.
Beef sold $78 to $90 with sales to
$109; D1 and D2, $73 to $78; D3,
$68 to $71; D4, $60 to $65. Maple
Woods Organic Farms of Walkerton,
consigned one rwf cow that weighed
1,265 lbs. and sold for $109.
There were 13 bulls selling $75 to
$118. Kyle Richardson of Harriston,
consigned one blue bull that
weighed 1,735 lbs., sold for $118.
There were 160 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $135 to $170 with
sales to $175; good holsteins, $122
to $129 with sales to $130; Si heavy
holsteins, $115 to $125; heavy
holsteins, $100 to $115; medium
holsteins, $110 to $120. Reuben S.
Martin of Wallenstein, consigned
eight head that averaged 909 lbs. and
sold for an average price of $169.04.
One black heifer weighed 800 lbs.
and sold for $175. Darryl VanSickle
of Thamesville, consigned four
steers that averaged 806 lbs. and
sold for an average price of $159.35.

WILLIAM `BILL" RICHARD
ALCOCK
William `Bill" Richard Alcock of
Goderich passed away at Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital,
Goderich on Tuesday, March 20,
2018. He was in his 82nd year.
Bill was the beloved husband of
the late Helene (Mahood) Alcock
(2010), and loving father of Rick
and Sherry Alcock, Goderich; Kathy
Alcock and limbo Sinnett,
Goderich; Paul Alcock, Exeter and
Mike and Christy Alcock, Goderich.
He was the cherished grandfather of
Steven and Bradley Alcock, Ryan
(Avary) and Robyn Adams, James
and Emma Alcock, Elizabeth and
Michaela Alcock and great-
grandfather of Jakob.
Bill was the dear brother and
brother-in-law of Betty Daer,
Clinton; Cora Alcock, Brussels;
Murray and Barbara Alcock,
Goderich and Carol Alcock,
Goderich.
He was predeceased by parents
Jack and Isabell Alcock, brothers
Kenneth and Ross, brother-in-law
Joseph Daer and half-brothers Tom
and Frank.
At Bill's request, cremation has
taken place. Visitation was held at
the Falconer Funeral Homes,
Bluewater Chapel, Goderich on
March 25. A memorial service was
held at St. George's Anglican
Church, Goderich on Monday,
March 26. A reception followed at
the Royal Canadian Legion Branch
109, Goderich.
Inurnment of cremated remains
will be at Maitland Cemetery in the
spring.
Memorial donations to Cystic
Fibrosis or a charity of one's choice
would be appreciated as expressions
of sympathy.

2017.
Wendy Armstrong -Gibson, Princ-

School's top earner was teacher
Janice Shaw who earned
$119,527.00 last year. Principal
Angela Cowey is also on the list,
having earned $117,992.81 as is
Vice -Principal Tracey Swart who
earned $103,134.58.
Other teachers from Maitland
River on the list include Diana
Binotto-Peel who earned
$102,163.57 and Naomi Martin with
$100,434.89.
F.E. Madill School's Principal,
Debbie Green, is on the list, earning
$123,955.41, as are two of the
