Rev. Terry Fletcher performed the baptism and welcomed Evie into the family of God. Beautifully dressed in lacy white, Evie took the whole affair in stride and seemed to enjoy the attention. United Church Women President Bev Riley presented the couple with a symbolic candle and a child's Bible. 31 on county `Sunshine list' By Shawn Loughlin The Citizen Huron County has 31 employees on its "Sunshine List" for 2017, which outlines the salaries of public employees who made over $100,000 throughout the year. Marsha Szusz was pianist for the service and led in a pre -service sing- song. Rev. Fletcher's message that morning was titled "The Full Power". John 3:22-36 and responsive Psalm 148 were the supporting scripture passages. In today's world, full power in our electronic devices controls our lives — keeping in touch, learning, being entertained, etc. However with further thought we all recognize that nothing in the physical world works without power, be it in the form of a charging cable, food for our bodies, heat and hydro for our homes, money for our needs and bills. All his life, John the Baptist realized he was a forerunner. His purpose was to prepare the world for the coming of his cousin, Christ. He was good with this and was honoured to baptize Christ in front of believers. He knew Christ would have 'full power', being fully in touch with God. Although Christ had/has infinite power, His way was not to flaunt His powers to the people around Him. John the Baptist humbly took second place referring people to Jesus who humbly went forward to the pain and suffering of His ministry and Easter. We need to give thought to the fact that Christ could have used His full powers to change His future but fulfilled God's purpose for our redemption. For the next three Sundays leading up to Easter, the Londesborough Outreach Committee encourages everyone to support their food drive in support of Room 2 Grow and the Salvation Army Food Bank. The Outreach Committee reports they met their goal of $1,050 for their "water first" project. This money will outfit two interns with safety gear while ensuring our First Nations people have clean water.
