The December session of the • omit
council opened on Tuesday afternoon, 2a
int.. !It 3 O'clock, Warden Patterson in the
chair, and all the other members in attend-
ance. a • •
The following oommartiootions were 'read
and dealt with :—
From Charlet Sheppard, secretary of
Molesworth public library, asking a grant
-from the council. This was left over until'
January.
From A.M.Todd, president of the Huron
Poultry ond Pet Stook Association, asking
%for a grant of $60 to aid in bolding the lin-
-anal winter show. 125 was granted.
A. letter from Robs Lesoh, of nburn,
oteting that hie home hod been hurt by a
defect in Identheiner bridge, and claiming
damages. Laid over.
From Allan McLeod, of •Luoknoiv,elains-
ing damages for injury to horeo, sustained
from breaking through* rotten plank in a
bridge on the Nine Mile river. Recom-
mended payment of $20. . •
From Lieut. -Col. Tootle with reference
to the grant'from the aounty to the Hume
regiment it was rosemmended *hat
tuition be 'taken se to paying the -amour*
4600, granta to the 33r4 regiment for its
*mina atilt but nob paid, owing. to the
change made in drilling the offieers =teed

A W Caropbell,Provincial good roads
commie' sioner, was present, and ad-
dressed the council in regard to the
Act of Legislature by which 91,000,000
has been set aside for the. improvement
of the roads of the province, Huron's
share would be about 640,000, and the
council was aclihred to take such steps
in the inotitution of a system ot county
roads as would entitle it to draw this
amount from the Provincial fund. '
Dr Matheson and R S Box, representing
St Maryte:Collegiate Inationte, • waited on
