porary footbridge over the Maitland
near the old ilex mill, were taken away
by the rise of the river. They should
have been hauled to shore before this
occurred,

We are sorry to hear that Cora,
daughter of Peter J. McDonald, had

in one ankle last week while skating on
the rink. The ankle was also sprained.
We hope she will soon be able to get
about as lively as usual,
P. J, McDonald, who has been at
Moose Jaw for the past nine months,
arrived home on Christmas Day on a
visit with his wife and family, He
will rettirn next Marti). The past sea-
son wag spent ohiefl,y on the water•
works dam for the corpo'ation of Moose
Jaw, Length of cement darn was 340
feet, with an average of 25 feet in
height, much of it being below the
ground. The north side 0f 10811) was
lined with couorete. which averaged 10
feet in height and was about 250 feet
long It took 227i barrels of cement
and 1100 yards of gravel to complete
the contract. 'i'lle contract price was
over $24,000, 25 hand' were employed

She has been engaged to teach this
year in the Uxbridge High School,

was in town this week and called on
some of his friends here. Mr, Roger
has graduated Iran Queen's University
and is now engaged in the Ontario
Bureau of Alines in engineering work.
The Presbytery of Huron met 111
Knox Church on Ddc. 20th to consider
the call extended to Rev. F. 0, Nichol,
of Cargill, by the Auburn and Smith's
Hill congregations. The meeting was
adjourned till Deo. 27th, when the
Presbytery declined to sustale the call.
