At the time of accident it was thought the boy was killed, but it turns out that the little fellow only received a very bad shak. ing up. M. sentenced him to ten days in jail, without the option of a fine, and in the second sus- pended .sentence. DEMOREST MEDAL CONTEST AND CONbERT.-A ,contest in elocution will be held in Victoria Hall to -morrow, Thursday, Sept. 30th, when a silver medal will be given to the one whom competent judges have decided recited best. Great care is being given to the musical part of the progritmme,• and the best talent will be secured. THE MAGFNISCOPE.-The magniscope was shown at the Vicioria Opera House on Tuesday and Wednesday tc very poor audiences.
