Debility of system causes neurojj-

enfeeblements induces it. This affec-
tion is undeniably due to lack of
vitality, and its very existence is
evidence of deficient strength.
Remedial pleasures should there-

Performing animals of all kinds have

A Wrecker and a Wrecked Life.
Mr. George Rowley, the defaulting
manager of the Elgin Loan Co„ of St.
'Phonies, has pleaded guilty to Merges
of theft, forgery and perjury, and lee
now awaits the sentence of the court,
which will be given 00 August 10th.
One cannot hut feel sorry for a man in
his position, although it would be un-
wise to allow that natural feeling to
stand in the way of justice. He had en
assured lucrative position, &comfortable
home, ample leisure, and the respect of
the community. But cupidity overcame
his 5tiueiples; he was tempted, and he
used the money belonging to others to
gamble with, and lost it. He stole
again and again, forging to do so, and
committed perjury to hide his dealings.Who knows the misery and suffering
his course entails? Who knows where
the limit of the conteguences of his
crimes is to be placed? He brings sor-
row and disgrace to hie own family and
poverty to many others who trusted
him. He descends from a position of
honor and Influence to the prisoner's
clock and the felon's cell, and when the
term to which he will doubtless be sen-
tenced is over he will reenter the world
of industry a marked titan.
There's a lesson to be learned from
the case of George Rowley. ]t should
be taken to heart by every man, young
or old, who occupies a poestion of trust.
It is the old lesson of subduing unwise
ambitions and adhering to that simple
honesty that can look the whole world
in the face unafraid.

—Most unsportsmanlike conduct was
indulged in on the River Thatnea, near
Fellarton Corners, the other day. The
river thereabouts abounds with black
bats. Several fishermen asked permis-
sion of nearby fanners to Ash in the
deep pools. and this was granted, but
the fishermen so far broke the trust re-
posed in them that they used dy-numite
or some other combustible substance
with the result, it in alleged, that all
t he fish, large and small, in the river at
that point were destroyed. The atten-
tion of the game wardens of the district
has been called to the outrage, and
there may be prosecutions.
