Christ Church, nicely decorated with
flowers, was on Wednesday afternoon,
June 18th, the scene Of a very pretty wed.
ding, when Esther Emily Barton, of Dela-
ware, youngest daughter of Mrs. Barton,
of Clifford, Ont. and half sister of Rev.
W, H. Marley, was united in marrage to
Harry Auld, of Delaware, eldest son of Mr.
Mrs. John Auld, of Ekfrid Township, in
the presence of immediate relatives and I
.many friends, Rev. W. U. Harley offici-
ated. The couple were unattended. The 1
brides vas attired in a white silk suit and
wore a pearl ring, the gift of the bride-
groom The surpliced choir was present
and Master Charles Auld, brother of the
bridegroom, sang "A Perfect Day" with
great taste and precision. The couple
were married under an arch of everygreens
and flowers tastefully erected by Dr. J. G.
and Mrs Bice. Amid showers of con-
gratulations and good wishes the young
couple left for u motor trip and upon their
return will reside in Delaware, Mr: and
Mrs. Auld were the recipients of many

ly recommended as a leader and has been
in charge of some of Canada's best bands,
Mr. Lawrenson had charge of an over-
seas military band for a couple of years.

JOHNSTON-BOWMAN
A very pretty wedding was quietly
solemnized at St. Mathew's church, Ham-
ilton, when Rev. E. W. White united in
marriage, Gladys Mildred, only daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Bowman, to
Mr. Frederick A. Johnston of London,
son of William and the late Mrs. Johnston,
of Wingham, Ont.
The bride, who was given away by her
father, wore her travelling suit of cream
venetian serge, large black tulle hat with
touches of mauve, and corsage bouquet
of mauve orchids. The bride and groom
were unattended. The wedding music
was played by Mrs. E. W. White.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnston motored dir-
ectly from the chgrch to the train and
left for Buffalo and points east, amid
Showers of rice and confetti. on their
return they will reside in London.
Owing to the absence of the bride's
brother overseas, the wedding was very
quiet, only the most intimate friends and
relatives being present.
Mr. Johnston conducted a clothes clean-
ing and pressing establishment in Wing -
ham, a few years ago.

A pretty but quiet June wedding was
solemnized on Wednesday afternoon last
when, Miss Agnes J. Earl, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Earl, Clearview
Farm, was united in marriage to Mr. G.
Arnold Halliday, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.
Halliday of Howick, the Rev. Mr. Laing,
of Fordwicb, officiating. Miss Jennie
Earl sister of the bride acted as brides-
maid, and Mr, Stewart Edgar supported
the groom.
The bride was beautifully. attired in
Ivory Silk with embroidered front, only
the immediate relatives were present.
After a dainty wedding tea served at the
bride's home, the youug couple left for a
short honeymoon to Listowel, Stratford
and London, on their return they will re-
side on the grooms' farm near Wroxeter,

Mr. John Fitch was the guest of Mr.
John Gamble on Sunday last. .
Mr. John Gamble met with a runaway,
while in Gorrie one day last week and we
are glad to state nothing was injured.
The base ball game held in Gorrie, las.
weck between the Gorrie and the Ford-
wich boys, turned of a tie 16-16.
The strawberries have turned out well
this year, but we fear the hot weather
will dry them up.
The people around here, are all look-
ing forth to the big days, they are intend-
ing to have in Wingham on the 1st, 2nd,
