Mr.. Ross, his Minis- terof Education,• on the contrary, juggled with it, and though Principal Coven and other Equal Rights leaders shut their eyes at the critical moment in order to keep Sir .Oliver Molwitt' in power, the people believe to to -day that Mr. Ross is still veiling abuses that ought to be remedied we•slll not say by a Protestant Govern- ment, but by a public government. 3. Sir Oliver Mowat's continued effort to maintain himself by angling for a solid Catholic vote. Every man in his senses, every man that believes what his eyes can see before him, has been convinced for these ten years that Sir Oliver's first and foremost idea was to capture a solid Catholic vote. We have denied over and over again that there is 'such a thing as a solid Catholic vote ; but we assert just as positively that Sir Oliver never has it out of his eye. These, it will be found at the bottom, are the main source and strength of the new Protestant rising. To our minds it is not so much directed against Catholics as it is against a Protestant government that hds kept itself in ,power by refusing. to corilect abuses in the Separate and French schools, and that is ever ready to trade for what it calls "a solid Catholic vote." And not only Protestants, but many Catholics, will also resent this conduct of Sir Oliver's. • A TIIOUGHTFUL RESOLUTION.–The following was carried unanimously BRO. A.' M TODD, W. C. M.–We, the members of L. 0. L. No. 813, in lodge assembled, learn with regret of your serious affliction and we desire to ten- der you our heart felt sympathy at this time and hope and trust that you may be restored to your old time vigor and strength to perform your duties as our Worshipful County Master df South Huron.
