MR THOMAS ADAMS TILLS
THE HAPPY RESULT
THAT FOLLOWED •
HE WAS SUFFERING FROM A SEVERE ATTACK
•
OF RHEUMATISM -- WOULD HAVE GIVEN
ANYTHING TO SECURE RELIEF—HOW A
CURE WAS BROUGHT ABOUT.
From the 'Brantford Courier
A brief statement in respect to the re.
weary of MrThomas Adams, of St.George,
will no doubt be of considerable interest to
s offering humanity in general, and partici'
laxly to those who may profit somewhat by
the experieaoe hereinafter set forth. Mr
Adams is a stone mason by trade, and re-
sides about a mile east of St. George. At
present he is operating the Patten Mills,
and is well-known and rospeoted in the
neighborhood. In order to gain all the in-
formation possible concerning the circum-
stances of the cure, a representative of the
Courier proceeded thither to investigate the
case. Mr Adams was found at work in his
mill. He is a man of about 35, healthy
and vigorous, a man whom one would not
suspect of having had any ailment. 'When
interviewed he cheerfully made the follow-
ing • statement:—"About three years ago
when at work at my trade, I contracted,
through over exposure, a severe attack of
muscular rheumatism, which confined me
to the house for three weeks, during which
time I suffered the most excruciating pain,
being hardly able to move. I was so bad
that I could not lie down, had to just let
myself fall into bed. When attempting to
rise I had to tarn ;over upon my face and
crawl up,there being only one position from
whioh it was possible to rise. I would have
given anything at this time in order to se-
cure relief, My first thought was to call in
a regular praotititioner, so I procured one
of the beat physicians in the neighbcrhood,
but he did not seem to get control of the
malady. After treating me for some time
he left of his own accord, saying he oould
do nothing for me. About this time a
friend of mine persuaded me to try Dr Wil-
liams's Pink Pills. Finally, I decided ko
give them a trial, I soon experienced a de-
cided improvement, and was mending rap-
idly, the terrible pain left me and I had
considerable relief and was able to get
around with the use of a crutch, After the
further use of the . Pink Pilis I was so far
recovered as to be able to resume work, and
since that time have been 'free from the
complaint. I do net now feel any of the
soreness and stiffness of the joints, I can
get right up in the morning and go off to
work without any 'feeling of uneasiness
whatever. I have every confidence in Pink
Pills and heartily recommend them. 1 be-
lieve them a good thing to take at any time
to get the blood in good condition, and if I
felt illness coming on I would, instead of
calling a doctor, send at once for a box of
Pink Pills."
When strong tributes as these can belied
tolthe wondetfal rewrite of Pink Pills, it is
little wonder that their sales reach such
enormous proportions, and that they are

Mrs Lynn Linton, the English novel- •
ist and essayist, was the youngest of
the twelve children of a clergyman
with a limited income, and was obliged
to get her education as best she could.
She not only never went to school, but
she had •neither governess nor tutor,
and taught herself about all she knows
In spite of her lack of, training and the
fact that her father held in disfavor
the higher education of women, she
always loved study of all kinds, and
was especially attracted by languages.
She learned to read French, Spanish,
Italian, German, Greek, Latin, and
even a little Hebrew.

A PRIVATE OPINION.
A smart young officer thinking to make
himself popular, a la Napoleon, had a way
of promising things to the private soldiers
under him. On day be met a regular cid
war-horse.
'I say, Harris,' he said to him, 'you're a
mighty good soldier.'
'Thank you, sir,' replied Harris, stiffly.
'How would you like to have me recom-
mend your promotion? Give you some-
thing above the grade of private, for in-
stance'
'Well sir,' responded the old soldier,
be glad of that after a while, but just now,
sir, there are so many officers that it is a
good deal more exclusive to be a private,
and I'd sooner remain where 1 am.'—De-

CHATTELLE TOLD A LIE.
Tho day after his arrest on being in-
terviewed in Stratford Jail by Government
Detective Murray, Amedee Chattelle, the
botcher of little Jessie Keith, near Listowel,
stated that he had for a period of eight or
ten months been an inmate of the Taunton,
Massachusetts, Lunatic Hospital, having
been committed from .l3ostorl nine years
ago. Investigation proves that Chattell's
story is a fabrication. J. B. Brown, M. B.,
Superintendent of the Taunton Lunatic
Hospital, states that Chattell's name does
not appear on the register in the past 25
years, nor do any of the attendants re-
cognize the portrait and description for-
warded to Tanntoni es that of an7 previous
patient in the hospital. This disposes of
the idea that Chattelle may have been in
the institution ander another name. The
result of this engnir will tend to show
that Chattell adopted the lmfwniao pleas in
order to nage hip wok, if'possible.
