MONTREAL LIVE STOCK MARKETS
As the result of a decline of ld in Canadian
cattle on the other side the local market was
very quiet. The markets, it is said, are over-
stocked, and as shipments of American cattle
have been light it is fair to assume that the sup-
plies in question are largely composed of home
cattle. The east end market Monday morning
was fairly well attended, and considerable
business was done, principally in butchers'
cattle. Some 400 head were offered, and Lair
prices were realized, for first-class stock 3lo to
41c being about the range. Inferior stook sold
lower. Small stooks were in fair supply, and
the demand was on the whole good. Calves
sold at $3 to 810 each, fat hogs at 51c per lb, and
young pigs $1.50 to $2.50 eaoh.
