and was wounded in the arm while on
actives service in Franee,

er, are visiting friends in town,
Nurse Finlayson of Lochash, is visiting
friends in town
A missionary and patriotic evening will-
be.lield in the Methodist church, Thurs-
day March eth, Rev. J. L Slewart of
China and Rev. Mr, Agnew of Clinton,
are tite speakers, the local clergy mill al-

The late Mrs Thomas Stewart, whose
maiden name wr s Catherine, Brown, was
a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs, John
Brown, She Was born on the old home
stead in Miliett township on the 6th of
June 1800, spending her entire life. in this
section, She was 'mart ied eleven years
ago last tall in London, La her now bereft
husband, Mr, Thomas Stewart, and has
made her home -on King street, since
coming to Blyth Deceased was an
estimable lady, kind and generous, She
was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyter-
ian church and a regular cornmmunicant:
The funeral service was held on Friday
and condueted by Rev. Mr. Telford.
The pallbearers were old friends and
neighbors Mr. F. S hobrook, Simon Mc
Vittie, John Lamont, Joseph Stothers,
William Begley and James Hamilton.

The death of Mrs. Archie.. Barbour oc-
curred at the family home here on Tues-
day, She had been an invalid the last
five years as the result of a stroke. She
was Eliza Lidiett before her marriage.
and was 63 years of age. She leave e be-
side her husband, two daughters and two
sons, one Robert, who lost his eyesight
at the wr a few days before the armistice
was signed; also one brother in Pavia,
Ont. She wag a member of the Presby
terian Church The family formerly
resided in 1,Vinghem, where Mr Barbour
was section foreman on the Grand Trunk,
but had been residents 'of Lucknow for
many years,
Mr McMillan, who recently came here
as accountant at the Maisons 13ank, has
leased Sid Free'khouse on Station street.
Mr, Free is moving to Meaford, where
he will start a photo studio.

were brought to town on the nooir train
•on Wednesday, and laid to rest in Kin-
loss Cemetery The deceased came btr

son, James, had died at Duluth on Feb
8. The family formerly resided here,
The funeral was held at Forest Hill Cem-
etery, Duluth.
Another Kinloss pioneer passed away
in the person of Henry Hodgins, at the
age of 87 years. He had made his home
for some years with his son Walter. The
funeral was held to Kinloss Cemetery
and was largefiattended

seas on Friday last. He enlisted from the
west and went to England last spring.

Lucknow, were guests qn Sunday of Mr.
and Mrs. W J Dawson.
Pte, David Kennedy, son„ of Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Kennedy,' received his dis-
charge trom the army last week after
serving for three years. He' was a mem
ber of the Bruce Batt'n and went to Eng
land in 1916, His three brothers are still
overseas •

The Guildites held a social in the
church on Friday evening last, The
choir presented Mr, John Eglestone, who
leaves soon for the west, with a hymn
book, Miss Agnes Kennedy reading the
address and Miss Alta Fox making the
presentation Lunch was served and a
pleasant time was spent by all,,,
Mr, John Egiestorte leaves this week
for the west. He will have charge of a
car of horses for Mr. A. Rintoul as tar
as Winnipeg.

Mr, William Grimmer commenced work
at Robert Hamilton's, Bluevale, on Mon
day of this week. He is engaged for a
term of months. Will is a good steady
man and gives good satisfaetion. Mr,
Hamilton has done well in securing him
