farmer named McMartin, and while
McMartin and his wifd were at church,
Crawford, it appears, took out one of
the horses and ran him around the
fields and fell oft, The horse tramped
on his head, crushing in his skull and
causing a fracture of the lower part of
the skull. No person but young Craig
had seen the occident, sotrumora of foul
play were started, and au inquest
was held by Coroner McMillan,
when the fact was fully estab-
lished' that he came to his death as
above mentioned, The mysterious part
is that Craig carried the body iu a
wheelbarrow to the house, some four
sores distant, carried the body into the
kitchen and dressed the corpse, then

and patiently waited the return of the

AN INTERESTING OPERATION PERFORMED
AT THE AMASA WOOD HOSPITAL.

ple in eating grapes and other small
fruits are in the habit of AWellowitig
the seeds. These lodge in the ap-
pendecitis, a Hack with a small open-
ing attached to the bowels and which
so far atl medical scientists know has
no function. '1'lie lodgment of a seed
in the opening of this Hack is the usual
cause of peretouitis. Indeed Horne
physicians to -day say that it is the
only Cause of inflammation of the
bowels. Medical men arcs now for the
cure,of the disease performing,a new'
surgical operation, removing the sack
or eppendecitis. The first operation of
this kind whieh has ever taken place in
this city was performed at A masa Wood
hospital haat week by pr, Meek,•of
London, Resisted by Dr9. Fulton and
Duncombe. The patient was a lad
nine years of age, nailed A. Glasaey,
who had eaten grapes, seeds and all
the seeds lodging in the appondecitie,
causing inflammation. The operation
was successfully performed, and the lad
isrec overing nicely.
