THE BRITISH CATTLE MARKET
There is not much change to report this
week. The markets are still overstocked
with Canadian and United .States cattle,
and there is only a moderate demand.
Horne supplies continue ;fair. Prices are
a trifle better than last week. Calculated
at $4.80 to the £ they range as follows:
Finest steers, 11 to 11,}c; good to,ohoice, 10i
to 11c; poor to medium; 9a to 100; inferior
to middling, 7 to 9c.

MONTREAL LIVE STOCK MARKET
There were about 350 head of butchers'
cattle, 126 calves and 300 sheep and Iambs
offered at the east end abatoir Monday.
Trade was fair, but the prices of the best
cattle were lower than on lest Thursday,
but the cattle were scarcely as good as on
that day. The best animals sold at
from 4} to 4 5-8c per Ib, with fair stook at from
4 to 4}o do; rough steers and large cows in pretty
condition sold at iii to 4o; common dry cows and
large cows at 8 to 30, and some of the leaner
beasts at about 2io per Ib. Calves are fairly
plentiful, but Rood ones in. demand at pretty
high prices. • Common oalvee sell at from ea to
$6 eaoh. The prices of mutton critters are ra-
ther lower; sheep sell at from 3 to 5e per lb and
lambs at from $2.25 to 34 each, very few cringing
and sell at from 6 to 6}o per ib a lower to price
