vras entirely too short a time, as it
ladies and gentlemen who have coiner
to the hotels this season, to spend ar
few weeks in the freedom of this quiet
summer resort, away from the carca
of business antrfrom the rigid dermal
of society. The season for summet-
ing is fastdtawing to a close, but he
past week has been one of the nicest of
this whole outing period. Many More.

Simons mentioned that this amount Press and Advertiser, London.
$17, would have painted the town hall
nicely, if collected. Mr Marks,
whose e seems ever watchful for
ye
little things that need fixing up, called
the attention of the council to the fact
that several boards were off the ball,
leaving room for the entrance cif pigs
etc., thus making it very unclean. At
11 p.m. the meeting adjourned to meet
again at the call of the reeve.
SANDS PROM FlarnmsWe learn with
no surprise that a crowd from Seaforth
returning from Bayfield throtigh God&
rich township, had a break down on
the road; the same hole has caused
much inconvenience in the large traf-
fic which has existed this summer
along one of the chief thoroughfares
which lead to. our' popular resort. A
new step has been put at the post of-
fice door, which will do away with the
unpleasant accessory of shin -rubbing,
which the former one seemed to make
so common. Last Thursday was Sea -
forth and Goderieh citric holiday, and
large numbers from both towns came
here to picnic at Prospect Park; a
small party from Clinton was also on
the grounds; they all enjoyed them-
selves well, Many not returning until
a late hour. Division Court was held
here on Friday. last, but a verysmall
deck avealted His Honor. Two picnics,
one from Clinton and the other frOIO
Seaforth. Occupied the grove on Tues-
day. Word arrived on Tuesday to the
'family here that 111r Thos Martindale,
Soo of Mrs Burgess, of town, had been
drowned on the .lakes eMeowliere. It
IS a pity that unprincipled correspon-
dents Will make fun of their ti
town, but it seems there are such.
