BRITISH CATTLE MARKETS.
Liverpool. -This week another de-
cline iu prices is noted, due partly to
larger supplies and partly to a falling
off in the demand. At the Stanley
market 1,075 cattle were offered, but the
demand was weak, beet beeves bringing
from 12 to 124c per lb, a lower range
than a week ago. Sheep were in better
demand, for while supplies were larger
prices were about lo per lb higher. At
the Stanley market 1,200 sheep sold at
the below quotations: The following

MONTREAL LIVE STOCK
MARKET
The situation of the cattle market is
unchanged. Private cables were most
discouraging. London was bad, the
Assyrian's consignment losing two
pounds, per head. Glasgow was the
same, with the prospects very discour-
aging, while Liverpool was weak, beet
steers ranging from 5i to 6d and sheep
7d. Notwithstanding these continue
very large, last week's being the largest
on record, aggregating 6.311 cattle and
2,270 sheep, the majority of the former
being stockers. Sheep sold at about 4c
and hogs from 5f to 5;c. At the east
end market there were offered 650 cattle
300 sheep and lambs, 20 calves and 7
hogs. The cattle were inferiur in
quality and moved very slowly, a num-
ber being unsold at the close. Butchers
did not want stock, and bought only the
best, paying 3ic per lb, a few choice
head weighing about 1,100, bringing 4ic
Two loads of stockers were bought at
Sic, and 7 heifers, weighing about 1,000
lbs, at 4c. Sheep and lambs moved
slowly, with 3i to 4c. Sheep and lambs
$2.50 to $3.50 each, and calves, $4 to
$12.

a century ago. Don't bo satisfied to fol -
D ON) T tow in the footsteps of your grandfather
and give the outside world the idea that
you have not a spark of originality in
your make up. Don't sit down and feel
contented that Readymade Clothing is
both fashionable and economical. Dont
remain satisfied that it is either. Tho
reverse is the truth. Put aside your old
ideas and make up your mind that be-
fore you sleep you will prove the truth
of this assertion. A trip to our store

TORONTO LIVE STOCK MAR-
KETS.
The receipts for last week were 2,491
cattle, 1,963 sheep and lambs, and 1,586
hogs. Sixty loads were marketed in-
cluding 600 sheep and lambs 300 hogs
and 50 calves. The market was only
fairly active, and not until late in the
forenoon was any business done,further
arrivals being expected supply came
with the effect of overstocking the mar-
ket, and consequently prices fell some-
what on last day's quotations. Fat
cattle sold at figure quoted being a lot
of 21, averaging in weight 1,325 lbs each
at 410 per lb. From lc to is per lb was
however, the general run of business.
Stockers ranged from 24c to 31c per lb.
but the bulk of the sales were from $3
to $3 12i per cwt. Stock bulls ranged
from 2c to 3gc per lb. Butchers' cattle
were in fair demand, although the
quality hardly deserved to be ranked as
fair. The pick of the lot was bought up
at from- 3Rc to 3•Rc per lb, • the general
average being 3ic. Export sheep sold
at from $5 to $6 per head, but were not
in demand ; lambs at from $3 80 to
$4 10 per head, at which price they were
cleared out.
