The cattle men are showing more or less interest in the McKinley bill now before the UnitedStates Senate, which will shut Canadian cattle and lambs out of the American- markets. We quote the following as being fair values: Export cattle, 5 to 5;Ic; good butchers', 4r~ to 5c; medium butchers', 4 to 4.tc ; culls 3.. c. Hoge continue to hold firm under a steady demand at about $5.40 to 55.60. The receipts of sheep were small. 'The receipts since Saturday were 450 cattle, 1:17 hogs, 18 sheep and 10 calces. About six beads of choice butchers' stock were sold at prices ranging froni 4t to 5c. Hogs were scarce and all offerings were quickly picked up at about $5.75. Sheep movel freely at about 44 to 5c. There was on offer at the east end abattoir 3:10 cattle, 000 sheep and lambs and 200 calves. Calves were scarce, all offering being quickly picked up at $4 to $10, according to size and quality.
