Obit. Mr. Murdock's Loyalty ad-
dress was unanimously carried, any
who have a rebellious spirit lurking
within them had better have it out,

lowing is the address :—
Mon' GRACIOUS MATESTY.—We,
your Majesty's most dutiful and
loyal subjects, : the Commons of Can -
oda, in Parliament assembled, de-
," sire most earnestly in our own name
and on behalf of the people whom we
represent to renew the expression of
our unswerving loyalty and devotion
to your Majesty's person and Gov-
ernment. We have learned with
feelings of entire disapproval that
'various public statements have been
made calling in questun the loyalty
of the people to the political union
-now happily existing between this
Dominion and the British Empire,
'and representing it as the desire of
the people of Canada to sever such
connection. We desire therefore
to assure your Majesty that such
_,dt'atements are wholly incorrect
' representations of the sentiments and
aspirations of the people of Canada
who are among your Majesty's most
loyal subjects, devotedly attached to
the political union existing between
Canada and the Mother Country, and
'meetly desire its continuance.
e feel assured that your
Majesty will not allow any
such statements, emanating from
any source whatever, to lessen your
Majesty's confidence in the loyalty of
your. Canadian subjects to your Ma-
jesty's person and Government, and
will accept our assurances of the con-
tentment of your Majesty's Ca radian
subjects with the political connection
between Canada and the rent of
the British Empire, and of their fixed
'resolve to aid in maintaining the
Same. We pray that the blessings of
your Majesty's reign may, for your
' people'a sake, be long continued.
The Orange question is before the
House again this session, Mr Wallace
introduced a bill to incorporate the
.Grand Orange Lodge of British North
"-"--Aruerlea. -There is much discussion
on this; subject and as Sir John has.
said : "Much can be said on both
sidbs," No doubt the Orange body
if !incorporated, would shake them-
selves free from. much which at
present is very unsatisfactory.
Some ingenious persons propose
digging a canal from St Thomas to
Pt. Stanley. Mr Cassey says half a
million dollars would only make
Kettle creek (the proposed route)
navigable for fish,
I r Haggart said it was against the
rule to reimburse losers of registered
lettere stolen from the Post Office.

Ontario farms? We have not suffered
from blizzards, sand storms nor floods,
nor haye our crops been burned up
by extreme drouth. Yet the fact
remains they are not worth as much
as ten years ago. It is true that part
of this depreciation is due to the large
amont of emigration from Ontario to
Manitoba and the Northwest, but that
Loom ,is over, and many who went out
there with glowing expectations would
gladly return if they had the means
wherewith to come. But many will
return, and as a result farm labor will
be cheaper and the farms larger. But

ised good times by protection. Well
protection has been tried and found

Better Tildes For Farmers.
We reproduce the following letter
from the columns of the London Ad-
vertiser :—W ill you kindly allow me a
little space in your valuable paper
through which to address a few re-
marks to the farmers of Canada, and
especially those of the Province of
Ontario ? Gentlemen, never in a quar-
ter of a century have times been so
hard among the farming community.
During the past ten years farm prop-
erty has depreciated in value at the
rate of $1500 on leach improved 100
acres. For instance, take a farm that
was worth $8,000 ten years ago, and to
day it will not sell for more than
16,500. But, gentlemen, did yon ever
see anything go to such an extreme
that was not near a turn? I never
did and I believe there are better times
in the near future for the Canadian
farmer. Now, what are- the causes
that have so depreciated our beautiful

officials with their hard-earned money.
All parts of Canada will be benefitted
by free trade, but more especially those
districts where they go into stock
raising. Take the counties of Huron
and Perth, for instance, where they
have been using Clydesdale stallions
for years improving their stock. Many
farmers in those counties have mares
with five or six crosses of Clyde in
them, and from such mares they raise
a class of horses such as will command
from $175 to $200 at four or five years
of age, and $35 or $40 goes to the fat
custom officer with the serge suit and
brass bottons. Now, to those farmers
who are in stringent circumstances I
would say cheer up ] Free ()trade is
coming ; and to those whd 'have means
I would say invest it at once in farm
property. It will pay you 40 per
cent. in a very short time. Many
shrewd farmers have already pur-
chased fine farms great at bargains,
