Brown Worsted, bound and elegantly finished, full man's size, for
$6.50. Someone evidently loses money- on these lines, but our cus-

MONTREAL LIVE STOCK MAR-
KET.
There were about 550 head of but-
chers' cattle and 80 mutton critters
offered at the East End abottoir on
Monday. Trade was fair, with a good
demand for the best animals, but
common and inferior stock were rather
slow of sale, and prices are without
material change since Thursday. Mr
George Nicholson paid 4} per lb. for
the best cattle on the market—fat cows
weighing nearly 1,200 lbs. each—and
other gales of pretty good cattle were
made at from Sic to 4c per lb., while
common dry cows sold ab from 520 to
532 each, or tic to 3}c per lb,. Mutton
critters were scarce and higher priced
all round, and good lambs brought
fancy rates. Mixed lots sold at about
410 per lb, and good lambs at over 5c
per lb. The' market forfat hogs _is,
1 -quiet; "with __ the -supply-ab-Ont a'bout equal to
the demand, and prices are unchanged
at about 4} per lb.

on Saturday,
The body of Alexander McKenzie
was found on Monday in a swamp
about four miles from Waterloo. The
throat was cut from ear to ear, and the
cutting was undoubtedly the work of
the unfortunate man himself while in a
fit of dispair, brought on by lose of em-
ployment. He was over 60 years of
age and had lived in the locality for
more than 20 years.
