Forests. This gives the
village control over
parking areas, washroems,
etc.
However, on the bench
there are a series of
"iter rights" held by
individuals over a period
of many years from the
Depertment of Lends and
Forests, This gives the
people the right to hnve
personal docks on the
lnke.
The beach is the area
between the lake And the
"high mater mnrk" which
has been a vngue curiosity
ever since property lines
became important.
Education
Ok clsss nre you
ready for education?
Grand Bend's children
begin kindergarten and go
on with primary instuction
at the public school in
the village.Grades 1-8, or
go by bus to the separate
school five miles south,
and east of Highway 21.
At this point all is
clear. Then comes high
school, and all those
north of Main Street
(Highway 81) go to Exeter
High School where connec-
tion can be mnde for voe-
ntional s,+no) trainin
at Clinton, All 'teen-
agers south of Main Street
go to Forest, and/or on
to Petrolia for vocation -
n1 school. Beeson for
this split is bemuse of
original high school dis-
trict boundary lines, be-
fore Grnnd Bend %RS a
villnge. At that time the
townships of Bosanquot
(lembton County) and
Stephen (Huron County)
governed the area.
To complicate things
further on the public
school scene, Grand Bend
belongs to Stephen Pawn -
ship School area, which is
part of Huron County.
Health
"'he village employs a
Medical Officer of Health,
Dr. Boyes, Parkhill. This
is because we don't enjoy
Health Unit Services from
lambton County - because
of distance from Sarnia
and
we con't get it from
the 'Teelth Unit at Goder-
