years since he left here.
Mrs. Lloyd Sorsdahl received the
sad news Friday of the sudden
passing of her brother, Lachlan
McLean, at Filmer, Sask. Mrs.
Sorsdahl's mother, Mrs. E. Mc-
Lean, came to spend the summer
months with family. She re-
turned to' her home Saturday eve-
ning, accompanied by cher daugh-
ter, Mrs. Neil Lamont, Qf London.

the misfortune tofall and break
her hip last week, was a patient in
Clinton Hospital for a few days
before being removed to Victoria
Hospital in London by ambulance.

at their cottage in Jowett's Grove.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Dombrasht and

Bride -Elect Showered
A number of the ladies of this
village' attended a miscellaneous
shower at the home, of Mr. and
Mrs. Roy McCulloch in honor of
their daughter, Mary, a bride -elect
of this week. A program consisting
•of community singing, instrumen-
tal by Mrs. Elmer Dow, songs by
the Johns girls, Margaret and Dor-
is,. a reading by Olive Speare and
a mock wedding was much enjoy-
ed. Miss Shirley Dow read the ad-
dress. Miss McCulloch . received
many beautiful gifts, which were
carried in by Mrs. Wm. Hocking
and Mrs. D. Hocking: After ex-
pressing her thanks, all joined in
singing, "For She's a Jolly Good
Fellow." Lunch was served by the
committee in charge.

Societies Meet
The June meeting of the WA.
and W.M.S. was held at the home
If Mrs. William Jewitt with a -good
attendance. The meeting '/opened
by singing Hymn 568 and all re-
peated the Lord's Prayer. The
president, Mrs. Verne Dale, turn-
ed the meeting over to the W.M.S.
which opened with Hymn 148 with
Mrs. Millson's, group leader, pre-
siding. Mrs. White offered prayer.
Mrs. Mellwain and Mrs. Frank
Riley were appointed to decorate
fort the open meeting on June 20,
Mrs. W. L. Whyte read the Scrip-
ture lesson, followed by a ,reading
by Mrs. Mcllwain. Mrs. Millson in-
vited the ladies to her home for
the. July meeting. The stewardship
paper was ,given by Mrs. Broyvn
and the study 'book by Mrs. W. L.
Whyte and Mrs. MacGregor. The
offering was taken and the meet-
ing closed by singing Hymn 478.
The W.A. held a penny sale and
the sum of $11,75 was realized.
Mrs. Jewitt and Joyce served lunch
and all enjoyed a social time.

Rev. W. E. Milroy, of the Eg-
rpondville United Church, who has
Accepted a call to Sault Ste. Marie,
will preach at the regular service
of Duff's United Church on Sunday
afternoon. This will -be the last
chance that members of the Mc-
Killop charge will have of hearing
Mr. Milroy, who has labored faith-
fully in this area, and has con-
sistently emphasized the saving
power of the Gospel. Both Mr. Mil-
roy and Mr. Holden, the McKillop
pastor, are graduates of the Galt
Collegiate Institute.
A shower was held at the home
of Mrs. Orville Storey on Monday
evening in honor of Miss Kathleen
Scott, bride of the week. During
the evening a bride's book was
made. Betty Campbell read the
address and Kathleen opened the
many lovely gifts from friends
and neighbors. A social half-houf
followed.

MRS. WILLIAM G. SIEMON
MANLEY—Mrs. William G. Sie-
mon, life-10niigg' resident of McKRiop
Township, died at the home of her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and.
Mrs. John Vock, Friday. She was
76. She had been ailing for . the
last seven .months and seriously ill
for two weeks.
The former Emma Hemme, she
was born in McKillop March 2,
1880. She was the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. August Rename.
Fifty-four years ago .she was mar-
ried to William G. Siemon, who
died in 1932. She was a lifelong
member of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Brodhagen.
Surviving are six sons: Albert,
Antone, Louie, John and Lorne, of
McKillop, and Carl, of Milverton;
seyen daughters, Mrs. John (Min-
nie) Vock, Bornholm; Mrs. Walter
(Mabel) Rohde, Palmerston; Mrs.
Frank (Alice) Brooks, Mt.` Albert,
Mrs. Milton (Martha) Rock, Brod-
hagen; Mrs. Lyle (Anne) Spiece,
Niagara Falls, Ont.; Mrs. Boyd
(Gertrude) Driscoll, Walton; Mrs.
Russell (Adeline) Dolmage, McKil-
lop; three sisters, Mrs. Eli Rapien,
Brodhagen; Mrs. Charles Zimmer,
Edmonton, Alta., Mrs. Catherine
Melmes; of Toronto. Twenty-one
grandchildren and five great-grand-
children also survive. One son,
two brothers and five sisters died
previously.
The remains rested at the Lock-
hart Funeral Home, Mitchell un
Monday, when removal' was made
to St. Peter's Lutheran Church,
Brodhagen. Funeral services were
at 2:30 p.m. Rev. E. J. Fischer
officiated and burial was in St.
Peter's. Lutheran cemetery.

School Pupils Enjoy -Bus Trip
On Friday morning the school
children and teachers of S.S. No.
14, Stanley, and SS. 10, Tucker -
smith, enjoyed a, bus trip to
Gnat/3h. They were taken through
n'•Maedonald College and old to the
Reformatory and several other
places of interest. Lunch Was serv-
ed on the campus. The party left
Guelph about 5 p.m.; having their
supper at Kitchener and taking in
a. show later, returning home
about 10 p.m., after a most pleas-
ant trip.
