can Guild assisted the Brussels
ladies on Wednesday of last week

Last Monday the school children
were invited to visit the Court
House at Goderich which has re-
cently been completed. Premier
Frost, when speaking at the open-
ing last week, declared a holiday
for all schools in Huron County on
Monday, June 4.
Morris Township School Area
sponsored a bus trip for Grades
7 and 8 to Niagara Falls. on Tues-
day, June 5.
W.M.S. Plans Bazaar
Mrs. .Clarence Martin was hos-
tess to the 16th of Grey and 8th
of Morris W.M.S. group with 18
members present. The president,
Mrs. Bert Johnston, was in charge
of the meeting. The minutes of
the previous meeting were read
and the roll called by Mrs. Alvin
McDonald. Mrs. Jim McDonald
read the scripture lesson, after
which Mrs. John McDonald gave
the topic, "Something For Noth-
ing" During the business period it
was decided to have a bazaar in
the fall. The meeting closed with
Hymn 384, "Go, Labor On, Spend
and Be Spent" Lunch was served
by the hostess, assisted by the
lunch committee.

To Defend Title
At Hensall Contest
Roy Renwick, of Brampton,
grand champion oldtime fiddler in
the Ontario Oldtime Fiddlers' con-
test at HensalI Iast year, in com-
petition with 75 fiddlers, will de-
fend his title again here on Friday.
Mr. Renwick, a pilot with Trans-
Canada Airlines, was born at
Lucknow, Ont., lived briefly in
Wingham, and was raised • and
went to school in Teeswater. He
has been fiddling since he was
seven years old, except for the
war period, when he was in the
Airforce. He took up fiddling ser-
iously about 1950 and started play-
ing in fiddling contests in 1952. He
went to Louisville, Kentucky, in
1953-54 and placed in the money
in both contests. in addition, he
has won matey other contests in
which championships are not in-
volved.
OF THE WEEK
United Church Women's Mission-
ary Society on Wednesday even-
ing, May 27. Guest speaker was
Miss Caroline Wellwood, of Wing -
ham, who described a trip to Trin-
idad which she took last Decem-
ber when she was a guest at the
home of Rev. Jack Thompson,
Moderator of the United Church
on the island. Beautiful colored
slides were also shown by Mr. Roy
Cousins, which gave the gathering
an insight into the scenery and
customs of the people there.
Atte$ Graduation Ceremony
Parents and friends from this
district attended the graduation
ceremony at Seaforth District
High School on Friday afternoon.
Those graduating from this area
were June Hackwell, Lois Ann
Somerville, Mona Clark, Clara
Buchanan, Wayne McMichael and
Ronald Smith. Following the cere-
monies, tea was served to the
parents and visitors in the audi-
torium, as cloudy skies and chill-
ing winds forced the event to be
held indoors.
TO MEET IN BAYFIELD
The Women's Hospital Auxiliary
will hold its regular meeting at
the Little Inn at Bayfield on Tues-
day. Cars will pick up members
at 6 o'clock.

Week -Long Mission
Concludes At
Dublin Church
The solemn close of the week-
long Mission at St. Patrick's'
Church, Dublin, took place Sunday
afternoon with a large congrega-
tion
ongregation present. The .Mission, which
opened last Sunday, was conduct-
ed by Rev. Father Lohey and Rev.
Father McDowell, of the Redemp-
torist Order, London.
At the Sunday afternoon service
Father McDowell led the recita-
tion of the Rosary and Father
Lohey preached the sermon and
congratulated the members of the
parish in their zeal and faithful-
ness in attendance during the
week. He outlined the many av-
enues of grace open to them and
exhorted all to take advantage of
these graces. Father Loby also -
imparted the Papal and Mission-
aries' blessing on the congrega-
tion.
The service closed with solemn
Benediction with Rev. Father Mc -
Cowell, as celebrant, assisted by
Rev. Father McDowell and Rev.
Dr. Ffoulkes.

Poultry Club
Discusses Records
A meeting of the Seaforth 4-H
Lions Poultry Club was held at
the home of Ron Eyre Tuesday
evening. A quiz was handed 'put
by J. M. Scott, one of the club

and discussed the report books in
which monthly records • are sent
into the Agricultural Office. Dr.
De Pape explained the special
cards which enable the members
to keep more accurate records.
At 10 o'clock the members watch-
ed a special 4-H TV show on
CKNX, describing feeds and feed-
ing of livestock. Lunch was serv-
ed and the meeting was adjourned.
Calf Club Hears
Ross Marshall
The Seaforth 4-H Dairy Calf Club
`met at the home of Wm. Storey on
Wednesday evening, when Ross
Marshall was the guest speaker.
He pointed out the different parts
of a cow and showed what points
to look for in judging a cow. The
4-H members judged a class of
mature Holstein cows. Reasons
were given by Betty Storey, Gloria
Boyd and Louis Murray. Mr. Mar-
shall gave the official placing. The
roll call was answered and weigh
charts were given out. A delicious
lunch was served by Betty and
Mrs. Storey.
SOUTH HURON WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
HOLDS DISTRICT ANNUAL AT ZURICH
The thirty-fourth district annual
of South Huron Women's Institute
was held at Zurich Town Hall on
Tuesday with morning and after-
noon sessions. The hall was filled
for the occasion.
Presiding was Mrs. Kenneth
Johns, Woodham, district presi-
dent. Mrs. William Johns, Exe-
ter( district secretary, acted as
secretary. The address of wel-
come was given by Mrs. Harry
Rose, president of Zurich W.I., and
replied to by Mrs. Russell Brock,
of Kippen.
Excellent reports by standing
committees were submitted, and
dinner was served by the WA. of
the Evangelical U.B. Church. Miss
Audrey Spencer, Toronto, Depart-
ment representative, explained ex-
tension services as being to help
women to help themselves. Rev.
A. M. Amacher conducted the, -af-
ternoon devotional exercises. Mrs.
A. Crozier, of Seaforth, Mrs. E.
Geiger, Hensall, and Mrs. Hern,
Elimville, who were delegates to
the secretaries' convention, at
Guelph, led a panel discussion
from the platform.
Mrs. Hossack, provincial direc-
tor of the F.W.I.O., addressed the
meeting, in which she stated that
there are 43,200 members in On-
tario. She informed the members
that Mrs. Barry, representative for
Australia to the A.C.W.W. conven-
tion in Ceylon, will be entertain-
ed at Fanshawe Park, London, on
June 20, and that the Dr. Dorothy
Fulcher scholarship was given to
Miss Anna Aoutly, of Elimville.
Mrs. Hart, Woodstock, chairman
of London Area, spoke in a com-
plimentary manner in which the
annual was conducted, and urged
the institutes to continue their
support of the War Memorial Chil-
dren's Hospital, and spoke strong-
ly on giving aid to retarded chil-
dren, including rural schools. Mus-
ical numbers were provided by
Crediton and Elimville. Crests
made by Zurich members were
Seaforth C.W.L.
Plans Dance Here
The regular meeting of the Cath-
olic Women's League was held in
the school with the president, Mrs.
M. Etue, in the chair. The secre-
tary, Mrs. M. Williams, read the'
minutes of the last meeting.

Malone reported 93 members. Sec-
ond vice-president Mrs. J. Mal-
oney reported three dozen certi£-
cates purchased for the First
Communicants,
Correspondence was read by
Mrs. J. Devereaux, after which
Mrs. J. Bannon, treasurer, gave
her report. Arrangements were
made for a home baking sale, to
be held on June 30. It was decid-
ed to hold a dance in the Com-
munity Centre on Friday, June 15.
Everyone is asked to attend and
make this dance a huge 'success.
Plans were made for the school
picnic, to be held the latter part
of June.

the annual Diocesan Convention,
which was held in London in May,
after which the meeting closed

ST. COLUMBAN. — Tulips and
narcissi adorned the altars of St.
Columban's Roman Catholic
Church, St. Columban, on Saturday
morning, June 2, for the marriage
of Mildred Genevieve, daughter of
Mr, and Mrs. Joseph L. Ryan, R.
R. 1, Dublin, to Mr. James Edward
Cronin, Dublin, son of Mrs. Eliza-
beth Cronin, Dublin, and the late
Joseph Cronin. Rev. John Mc -
Cowell performed the marriage
ceremony and sang the Nuptial
Mass. The organist -was Mrs. V.
J. Lane, and the soloists were Miss
Rosemary Lane, R.R. 5, Seaforth,
and Mr. Robert Anderson, cousin
of the bride, London.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore an original floor -
length gown of Chantilly lace and
nylon tulle with fitted bodice, long
lily -point sleeves and Peter Pan
collar trimmed with sequins. The
fingertip veil was held in place
by a crown headdress, and she
carried a bouquet of red roses.
Miss Eleanor Bowman, Kitchen-
er, was maid of honor, wearing a
crystalette gown in aqua, featur-
ing a cowl collar with streamers
down the back, long torso and full
ballerina skirt. She carried white
and blue carnations . with blue
streamers.
The bridesmaid was Miss Cath-
arine Ryan, R.R. 1, Dublin, sister
of the bride, in a dress of pink
crystalette styled similarly to that
of the maid of honor. Her flowers
were pink roses and white carna-
tions with pink streamers.
Little Patricia Ryan, counsin of-
:ther,bride( was.\flgwer girl,, dressed
in a yellow nylon dress with "bh1-' '" '•
lerina skirt, and carried yellow •
and white carnations. Bobby Hart,
Stratford, cousin of the groom, was
ring -bearer.
The groomsmen were Mr. Clar-
ence Cronin, Dublin, brother of the
groom. and Mr. Ronald Ryan, R.R.
1, Dublin, brother of the bride. Mr.
Frank Cronin, Dublin, and Mr. Leo
Ryan, Weston, were ushers.
The wedding dinner was served
at the bride's home, which was
decorated with pink and white
streamers and bells and bouquets
of spring flowers. The bride's
mother received the guests wear-
ing a pale blue nylon dress with
matching accessories. She was as-
sisted by the groom's mother who,
wore a navy dress of lace with
white accessories. Each wore a
corsage of red roses. For travel-
ling the bride chose a pink dress
with white accessories. Following
their return from a trip to Que-
bec and Eastern United States,
Mr. and Mrs. Cronin will reside
in Dublin.
Guests at the wedding were
from Detroit, London, St. Clemens,
Stratford, Clinton, Kitchener, To-
ronto, Weston, Parkhill, Byron,
Dublin and Kinkora.
