The November meeting of the
Catholic Women's League of the
Dublin Subdivision was held in the
Continuation School with 11 mem-
bers present, on Wednesday eve-
ning, Nov. 2. The president, Mrs.
Earl Healey, presided. Miss Mar-
garet Flanagan, the secretary, gave
the roll call and the minutes of
the previous meeting. The finan-
cial report was read by Mrs. Louis
Looby. Correspondence was given
by Mrs. John Flannery, which con-
sisted of an invitation to the Dean-
ery meeting, to be held Nov. 16 in
St. Marys.
Joan Schoonderwoerd presented
a very interesting talk on the gen-
eral life in Holland. Plans were
made to hold a turkey bingo later
in November' The meeting was ad-
journed by Mrs. William Lane.

GORDON MITCHELL
HENSALL —Public funeral ser-
vices for the late Gordon Mitchell,
who died in Huron County Home,
Clinton, on Monday, Nov. 7, were
held from the Bonthron funeral
home on Tuesday at 2 p.m., con-
ducted by the Rev. C. D. Daniel.
Interment was in Hensall Union
cemetery. Unmarried, Mr. Mit-
chell was born near Exeter, and
is survived by one brother, Herb
Mitchell, London.
REV. MOTHER M. HUMBELINE
DUBLIN.—A former teacher in
many elementary Separate Schools
of Western Ontario, including Dub-
lin, Rev. Mother M. Humbeline died
Saturday night at Brescia Hall,
London, where she lived retired
for the last five years.
Formerly Mary Irene Coyle, she
was born at Wolfe Island, Ont., and
was professed in 1927, since which
time she has served with the Ursu-
line Community.
Solemn Requiem High Mass
was celebrated Tuesday morning
in the chapel of Brescia Hall, and
burial was in St. Peter's cemetery,
London.
MRS. ALBERT BELL
HENSALL.—There passed away
in London on Tuesday, November
8, Essie Jane Troyer, beloved wife
of the late Albert Bell, of Hensall.
She was in her 71st year.
Mrs. Bell, who had been in fail-
ing health for the past two years,
was born in Hay Township. She
lived near Hensall most of her
life with the exception of the lat-
ter 15 years, when she took up
residence in London.
Surviving are one son, Harold S.
A. Bell, London, and a grand-
daughter, Helen; two sisters, Mrs.
William Dignan and Mrs. William
Hyde, Hensall.
Resting at the home of her son,
80 Beattie Ave., London, the body
will be removed to Bonthron fun-
eral home, Hensall, for public ser-
vice on Friday, Nov. 11, at 2:30
p.m. Interment will follow in Ex-
eter cemetery.
MRS. AGNES JANE DOWSON
BAYFIELD. — Funeral services
for Mrs. Agnes Jane Dowson, 85.
of Bayfield, who died in Clinton
Public Hospital Saturday, were
held at the Beattie funeral home,
Clinton. Monday afternoon at 3:30
o'clock. Rev. Peter Renner, of
Bayfield United Church, officiated
and burial was in Bayfield ceme-
tery.
Pallbearers were John Dowson,
Willard Dresser, Campbell McKin-
ley, Frank McClinchey, George
Leitch and Robert Talbot.
Mrs. Dowson was born in Stan-
ley Township and resided there all
her life. She was a member of
Bayfield United Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs.
Leonard Talbot, Bayfield; three
grandchildren, and four great-
grandchildren. Her husband, Wil-
liam J. Dowson, died several years
ago.
Plans Made For
Banquet At Duff's
During the business portion of
the November meeting of Walton
WA. of Duff's Church, plans were
made for the Hereford banquet to
be held in December, with the 17th
group catering.
The Thursday meeting was pre-
sided over by the president, Mrs.
George Love. The meeting open-
ed with Hymn 270 with Mrs.' Cuth-
ill at the piano. Scripture reading
from St. John 14, verses 1 to 15,
was read, followed by the Mary
Stewart Collect and the WA. theme
song.
The secretary's report was read
and approved and thank -you notes
were acknowledged. The treasur-
er's report was given by Mrs. An-
drew Coutts.
The meeting came to a close with
the singing of the hymn, "Blest Be
the Tie That Binds," and prayer.
George Love has returned home
after spending several months in
the Western Provinces.
Miss Leona Watson has return-
ed to Vancouver, B.C., to resume
her duties as hostess on the T.CA.

Staples remained to visit with her

Hold Rally Service
Rally Day was observed in Duff's
United Church on Sunday morn-
ing with the minister, Rev. W, M.
Thomas, incharge of the service.
The scripture lesson was read by
Elizabeth McGavin. Gerald Smith,
assistant superintendent of the
Sunday School. offered prayer. and
June Hackwell read a story en-
titled, "Kelly of the Crosby." Faye
Love and Ruth Anne Ennis sang
"Sweet Hour of Prayer" as a duet
with Audrey Hackwell presiding
at the organ.

farm on the Huron Road and will

the bride was wearing a floor -
length gown of Chantilly lace over
satin. The skirt featured tiers of
frothy nylon tulle. A matching lace
jacket trimmed with ice -tinted se-
quins and with long sleeves was
worn over the fitted bodice. A
coronet of tulle with sequin_ trim
held her fingertip veil, and white
brocaded satin slippers completed
her costume. She carried a bou-
quet of red roses and white Shasta
chrysanthemums.
As matron of honor, Mrs. Frank
Nuhn, Kitchener, attended her sis-
ter, wearing a floor -length gown of
pale green nylon tulle with a pleat-
ed bodice and a matching head-
dress. Her flowers were pink pom-
pom chrysanthemums.
Mr. John Henderson, Seaforth,
was best man.
Rose and white chrysanthemums
decorated the home of the bride's
parents, where a wedding dinner
for the immediate relatives was
served. The bride's mother re-
ceived the guests wearing Delft
blue with black accessories. Her
corsage was of pink carnations.
Assisting her, the bridegroom's
mother was in a rose dress with a
matching lace jacket. Her acces-
sories were in navy and her flowers
were white carnations.
For a wedding trip to Niagara
Falls and places in the United
States, the bride changed to a pow-
der blue suit with navy accessor-
ies. On their return the couple
will live in Kitchener. ,

day with St. Thomas friends.

men's Association of St. Thomas'
Church was held Tuesday after-
noon in the parish hall. Mrs. Geo.
McGavin, president, was in the
chair and led in prayer.
Mrs. Ada Reid read the Gospel
for All Saints' Day. Mrs. J. H.
James was in charge of the educa-
tional part of the meeting. Four-
teen members attended the Fall
Deanery meeting held in Fordwich
the latter part of October. The
annual meeting of this branch will
be held Wednesday, December 7,
at 2:30 p.m. in the parish hall.
The meeting closed with the
benediction.

ited with Mr. and Mrs. William Mc-
Iver.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Purcell, of

Mrs. Everitt William McDowell, of
London, mother of Mrs. Milton
Berger, Seaforth, died at St. Jos-
eph's Hospital Saturday night in
her 80th year. She went to London
six years ago.

Besides her husband she leaves
three daughters: (Dorothy) Mrs.
Milton Berger. Seaforth. and Miss

don; one sister, Miss Ella McKen-
zie, of Thamesville, and seven
grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Tues-
day at 1:00 p.m. in the A. Millard
George funeral home. London,
where the body rested, and a
graveside service was held in Sher-
man cemetery, Thamesville. Rev.
Dr. G. W. Moore. of Knox United
Church, assisted by Rev. A. H.
Johnstone, of St. Thomas, officiat-
ed.
Escorted by her father, the bride
wore a strapless gown of chalf
white nylon net over satin, with
fitted satin bodice edged with
sequins and three -tiered bouffant
skirt. forming a slight train. The
rosepoint lace bolero featured lily -
point sleeves. A matching satin
headpiece trimmed with sequins
held her fingertip veil of nylon il-
lusion net, and she carried a bou-
quet of white shasta mums.
Mrs. Norman O'Connor, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor,
wearing a gown of aqua crystal-
ette over satin. She carried a bou-
quet of yellow shasta mums.
Bridesmaids were Miss Cecelia
Mitchell. Dorchester. and Miss
Florence Sloan, London, who wore
gowns identical to that of the ma-
tron of honor, and carried nose-
gays of sky blue shasta mums.
Louis Doyle, Toronto, brother of
the bride, was best man, and ush-
ers were Norman O'Connor and
Clem Baker.
Receiving at the home of the
bride's sister, Mrs. Norman O'Con-
nor, the bride's mother wore a
green crepe dress with corsage of
white carnations. The groom's
mother chose a black crepe dress
and corsage of pink carnations.
For a wedding trip to Montreal
and eastern points, the bride chose
a wine dress with grey -blue coat,
winter white and black accessor-
ies. The couple will live in Dor-
chester.
Mr. Bob Kinsman left Tuesday
morning for the Royal Winter Fair
in Toronto.
Mrs. Bruce McGregor and son,
accompanied by her mother and
father, are visiting in Buffalo. N.Y.
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Henderson
spent a day in London last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hutchison
of St. Thomas, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Mellis.
Mr. John Doig, of Grand Rap-
ids, Mich., spent the weekend with
his mother. Mrs. Lydia Doig. and
sister, Janet. Mrs. Doig and Janet
returned with him for the winter

son, who has visited her daughter,
Mrs. Mellis, for several weeks, re-
turned to her home with them.

Dashwood, visited Sunday with the
former's mother, Mrs. James Me-

Michigan, returned home last week

LADIES' GUILD
The monthly meeting of the Lad-
ies' Guild of St. Thomas' Church
was held on Tuesday afternoon,
Nov. 8. in the parish hall. Miss
D. Parke presided and the meet-
ing opened with the scripture read-
ing by Mrs. John Oldfield. Prayers
for the parish were followed by
the Lord's Prayer in unison.
Following the roll call. the min-
utes and treasurer's report were
read. After the business discus-
sion, arrangements for the bazaar
and tea were completed.
The collection was received and
dedicated, and the meeting ad
journed with the benediction.
