The guest speaker, Boyd Taylor, of Walton, was unable to attend, so the mem- bers were asked to give reports on their own crop rotation on their own farms. 'The joint meeting was conducted by Catherine Campbell and Ione Watson gave an account of her tour to British Columbia, Califor- nia and Mexico. Earl McSpadden gave the club paper. Northside Ladies Make Bazaar Plans The regular monthly meeting of Group 1 of Northside W.A. met at the home of Mrs. F. Harburn with 15 present. Business was conduct- ed by, Mrs. H. Connell. Plans were made for the bazaar to ,be held on September 29. All members were invited to the general meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The devotional part of the meeting was taken by 1Vrs. S. Garnham. A hymn was sung, af- ter .. yvhich Mrs. C. Walden and Mrs. Ross Murdie led in prayer. Barbara Trewartha played an enjoyable number on the guitar. Mrs. C. Henderson read. "When the Minister Comes ,To Tea " Mrs. W. E. Milroy spoke on her trip to England, where sine visited her home. Mrs. W. Ball thanked those who had taken part in the meeting, and Mrs. E. H. Close closed • with prayer. Mrs. Close and Mrs. D. Lenon served a delicious lunch. GROUP U The September meeting of Group II was held in the basement of the church on Tuesday evening. Mrs. J. M. Scott presided for the devo- tional and Mrs. Hiffman, the busi- ness period. Scripture lesson was introduced and read by Mrs. Wm. Leeming. Mrs. Lorne Dale led in prayer. After the business discussion Mrs. Scott gave a very interesting talk on the motto, "No one ever got eyestrain from looking on the bright side of life." A dainty lunch was served by Mrs. B. Walters and Mrs. H. Shannon. GROUP III Group III of the W.A. of North- side United Church held their Sep- tember meeting at the home of Mrs. Harvey Travis, with a pot- luck supper. The devotional part of the meeting was ope led by the president, Mrs. Norman Knight, by reading a poem, "House.wi#'e's Prayer." Mrs. E. C. Chamber- lain read the scripture, Psalm 46, followed with prayer by Mrs. Alf. Byerman. The secretary's report was given and the roll call answer- ed by 15 members. Stewart played traditional wedding music and accompanied the soloist, Miss Jayne Mary Snell, who sang "Be- cause" and "Wedding Prayer." Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a ballerina length white brocaded taffeta, princess styled. A matching ---brocaded headdress held her three-quarter length veil in place. She carried a crescent shaped bouquet of white Shasta mums. Mrs. Gerrard Reitz, Toronto, was matron of honor, wearing a princess styled dress of new mink florentine faille, and she carried a crescent shaped bouquet of yel- low Shasta mums. • Mr. Floyd McPhee, Seaforth, was best man, and Mr. Robert Snell, brother of the bride, and Mr. G,errard Reitz ushered. The wedding reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Har- old Whyte. Receiving, Mrs.. Snell wore black and white taffeta -with pink accessories and a corsage of pink roses. Assisting her, the bridegroom's mother wore brown corded faille dress with gold ac- cessories and a corsage of yellow roses. The assistants at the recep- tion were Miss Gwen Christie, Miss Marion Chamberlain and Miss Barbara Hillis, Seaforth, and Miss Ann Whyte, Hamilton. For the wedding trip the bride donned a beige suit with brown and gold accessories and a tiny yellow mum corsage. Miss Rose Dorsey read the cor- respondence and reported seven- teen cards sentto shut-ins during the summer. It was decided to hold the an- nual Christmas bazaar again this year.
