at a trousssau on Wednesday, Aug.
3, in honor of her daughter, Mar-
garet, whose marriage took °place
on Saturday, August 6. Mrs. Stev-

decorated with gladiolli and sweet
peas. Pink and silver streamers,
white candles and sweet peas
decorated . the living room. Dis-
playing the gifts in the afternoon

A post nuptial reception ,honor-

Mr. William Murray was declar-
ed the oldest member of the Royal
Black Institution, as well as the
oldest man at Goderich on Derry
Day, August 13. This is three
times this, year Mr. Murray has
been declared the oldest man' cele-
brating, as follows: on July 12, at
Blyth; on August 2, at the Arena
in Seaforth, and on August 1,3 in
Goderich.

MRS. HERBERT SMITH
EXETER.—Services for Mrs.
Herbert Smith, 66, who died in
South Huron Hospital, were con-
ducted Monday, August 8, at 2:00
p.m. by the Rev. Alex Rapson, w'
the Hopper -Hockey funeral home,
and interment made in Bayfield
cemetery.
She was the former Edith Stog-
dale, of Stanley Township, where
she and her husband farmed until
retiring and going- to Exeter eight
years ago. She was a member of
Main St. United Church:
Surviving besides her husband
are one son, Edgar, Guelph; one
daughter, Mrs. Clayton Campbell,
London, and one sister; Mrs. Sim
Hinde, Wallaceburg.
MRS. WALTON KERSLAKE
CROMARTY. — There passed
away at Victoria Hospital, Lon,
don, on Monday, August 8, Mar-
garet Ellen Ballantyne, wife of
the late Walton Kerslake, of Crom-
arty, in her 71st year.
Surviving are two sons, Carter,
Staffa, and Everard, Cromarty;
six grandchildren; two sisters,
Mrs. W. Hamilton, romarty; Lil-
lian, Exeter; four b others, James,
London; Will, For William; Thos.,
Usborne Twp.; hn, Toronto.
Funeral servi s were conduct-
ed on Thursday, August 11, from
the Hopper -Hock y funeral home;
Exeter, by Rev S. Kerr, Cav-
en and Croma ty Presbyterian
Churches, with i terment in Roy's
cemetery. The pallbearers were
William Ballan yne, Ray Ballan-
tyne, Lloyd allantyne, Frank
Harhilton, James Fairburn and
William McLachlan.
MRS. HENRY STRANG
EXETER.—Mrs. Henry Strang,
82, of Exeter, who died Tuesday,
August 9' at Woodstock, was the
former Margaret Caldwell, of Hay
Township.
After their marriage, she and
her husband farmed in Usborne
Township for many years. They
retired and came here to live in
1937, and Mr. Strang died in 1951.
She was a member of Cavan
Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Harry,
Usborne; William, London, and
five daughters, Mrs. Janet Bliss,
Vancouver; Dr. Margaret Savage,
Cold Lake, Alta.; Mrs. A. W:-
Percival,
rPercival, North Bay; Mrs, George

The remains rested at the Hop-
s r -Hockey funeral home, Exeter,
where services Were conducted on

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hastings
have returned to their home in
Listowel after spending the past
week with Mrs. Hasting's mother,
Mrs. Thomas Barton.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Virley and
family, of St. --Catharines, visited
last.week with the former's moth-
er, Mrs. Robert Dalrymple and
Mr. Dalrymple" and other rela-
tives. -
Mr. and Mrs. John McLachlan
and Mr. and Mrs. James Hay left
by motor on Tuesday morning for
the West, where they will visit
with relatives.
' June McLachlan has returned
home after visiting tho past week
with her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. H. McLachlan.
Mrs. Houghton, of Cromarty,
visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. R. Dalrymple.
Mrs. Thomas Barton has re-
ceived word that her brother, Mr.
Roy McMane, passed away Mon-
day night after a lengthy illness
at the home of his daughter. He
was buried in Donegal cemetery.
Mr. McMane was well known in
Egmondville, having lived here
for a number of years.
Mr. and Mrs. John McLachlan
and Mr. and Mrs. James Hay left
this week by motor for a visit with
friends in Western Canada.
Miss Jean Watson, Reg.N., and
Miss Alice Watson are enjoying a
vacation at Bangor Lodge, ne
Bracebridge, Muskoka.
Miss Laura McMillan a . fricaid,
Miss Vera Palmer, are enjoying a
holiday at Windsor.
Miss Jessie Finlayson left this
week for a holiday at Collingwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jahon, Flint,
Mich., spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Elmore Stephenson.
'Mrs. John Campbell; of McKil-
lop, spent Wednesday with her
aunt, Mrs. James Finlayson
Mr. and Mrs Hugh McLachlan,
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
John Cairns, of Brucefield, spent n
day at Innverhuron with Rev. An-
drew H. and Mrs. McKenzie and
family.
Rev. W. 0. -Robinson, of Bel-
mont, Man., who is spending a
holiday at the old home in Stan-
ley with his brother, Richard Rob-
inson, and other relatives, visited
his brother, Thomas Robinson; and
family.
