Rev. J. L. O'Rourke

As Parish Priest
Rev. J. L. O'Rourke arrived in
Stratford Friday night from. Sar
nia to take over his duties as pas
tor of 'St. Jbseph's'Roman Catholic
Church. He succeeds Rt. Rev.
Msgr. D. J. Egan, who will take
up ,residence in London. Father
O'Rourke will be assisted by Rev:
Albert Williams, whose tome is in
Leamington and . who was ordain-
ed into the priesthood last month.
Father O'Rourke received his
primary education in Beechwood
Separate School, near Dublin, and
his secondary education at St. Pat-
rick's High School, Dublin. He
received his senior ,,matriculation
from the Stratford Collegiate In-
stitute, He studied for his degree
work at the University of Western
Ontario, London, and studied for
the priesthood at St. Peter's Sem-
inary, London.
Father O'Rourke wad born in
3VIeKillop Township, son of Patrick
O'Rourke and the late Mrs.
O'Rourke. He was ordained in St.
Peter's Cathedral, London.
Father O'Rourke has served in
St. Mary's parish, Tillsonburg, St.
Cecilia's, Port Dover, and St.
Michael's, Walsh; St. Joseph's,
Clinton, and the Blyth Mission, and
finally St. Joseph's parish, Sarnia,
where he has been pastor since
July, 1953.

Shortly after his arrival hs Clin-
ton, Father O'Rourke received the
appointment of diocesan director.

has been responsible for organiz-
ing 44 credit unions • in Western
Ontario.
Of special interest toithe young
people of St. Joseph's parish is
that Father O'Rourke` stated that
there will be "lots of Regis Club
and Pots of C.Y.O."
