Otte point against them, is their slow start- ing. •In their first five 'games• they h-aven't 'been able to hit full stride until the 'second'and third periods. This was very noticeable Saturday night, when the play was slow and ragged in the first frame. It cannot be expected that the Baldwins will find' the grouping a walk -away. On the contrary, it can be expected that the boys will find the Sarnia Speedy Sailors' close on their heels;': As for the remaining three teams, there has not been any impressive signs. Seaforth is yet to tangle with Wingham, so no predictions can be made in this case. Wingham has yet to win a game. Chatham has claimed great improvement, but they will have to convince us on this point Saturday night. Schmidt-Byermann Vows in Winthrop • The altar of Cavan United Church, Winthrop, was decorated with baskets of white chrysanthe- mumsand ferns for the wedding of Thelma .Ruth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Byermann, Winthrop, to Mr, Alvin William Schmidt, son of Mr. and MTs. Albert Schmidt, Kitchener. • Rev. H. E. Livingstone officiated, assisted by Rev. J. Melvin Keyes, Stratford, uncle of the bride. Mrs. Donald McTaggart, Brussels, play- ed traditional wedding music, and accompanied Mise Marion Mann, Atwood, who sang, "I'll Walk Be- side You" and "0 Perfect Love." Given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Melvin .Byermann, the bride wore a white satin gown with full skirt of satin and nylon net and a bodice of nylon net trimmed with seed pearls and rhinestones, Her fingertip veil fell from a corona- tion crown headdress, styled with seed, pearls and rhinestones, and she carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses. Her only jewelry was a matching set of rhinestones, The bride's sister, Miss Iris By- ermann, was maid of honor, gown- eed in yellow nylon tiered net over taffeta with matching net belero, She carried a bouquet of peach ros- es, Mrs. Charles Sparks, Kitchen- er, the matron of honor, wore a green gown fashioned on the same lines as that of the maid of honor, and carried yellow roses. DxpPritnents have been reported' where the tidtlt .tion of one pound of synthetic de- tergent to 1,00 pounds of feed for poultry and swine have increased gains by as much as 35 per cent. Experiments at the Experimental Station, Lethbridge, however, us- ing feeder lambs and rabbits have shown that the detergents used bad no feed value for these animals. Reporting on the experiments at Lethbridge, Dr. F. Whiting ,reports that one group of 30 Iambs was fed a ration of alfalfa hay and graiu and another group of 30 was fed the same ration to which had been added' one pound of detergent to each 1,000 pounds of ration. The sheep were fed for a period of 110 days Six weanling rabbits were fed a commercial rabbit pellet and six were fed the same feed to which was added 0.1 pound of detergent per 100 pounds of feed. In all cas- es animal's fed detergents gained at essentially the same rate as those not fed with this addition. More remit experiments with swine at other stations have shown quite varied response from feeding detergents. Apparently some sym- thetic detergents compounds in- crease gains but most do not. It is import'ant to note that in none of the experiments reported has the feeding of detergents prov- ed harmful. This is in contrast to the death losses that often were reported when soap was used as the washing compound and the soap wash •water was fed to livestock. Besides the use of detergents in washing compounds they are often used in various spray materials and for other agricultural uses. It is encouraging to note that these de- tergents can be useful in the home and for other uses' without danger to livestock and with the possibility that they may even be of benefit in this' regard. Mr, Wilbert ()alma, Kitchener, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man. Mr. J. Goetz, Kit- chener, and Mr. Keith Pauli, Strat- ford, were the ushers. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Byerman chose a metallic brown taffeta dress with rhinestone acces- sories and wore a corsage of peach roses. The bridegroom's mother chose a golden brown crepe dress with green accessories, and wore a corsage of yellow roses. The wedding dinner was served in the church parlors, which were decorated with pink and white streamers. Those assisting were Miss Audrey Greenwood, Kitchen- er; Miss Alma Bruder, Kitchener; Miss Irene Montgomery, Brantford; Miss Joyce ,Byermann, Dublin; Mrs. Everett Byermann, Warton, and Mrs. Norman Eggert, Dublin. A re- ception was held in the Walton Hall, after which the couple left on, a motor trip to Georgia. For travelling the bride wore a silvery -green corded taffeta dress trimmed with white angora, and a blue coat with black accessories. She wore a corsage of red roses.
