LATE LEO C. JOHNSON
Death, came with tragic sudden-
ness to Leo C. Johnson, Exeter,
and formerly of Seaforbh, Tuesday,
January 6, at ThamesviLle, when
his truck collided with an expres
train and was deraolithed.
In his 29th year, he was the son
of Mrs. Johnson, .Seaforth, and the
late James Johnson.
Married in 1946 to Ruth Nigh,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick
Nigh, • he is survived by her and
four young children: Ruth, Sharon,
Bonnie Jean and Carolyn, all at
home. He is Wet) survived by his
mother; two sisters, Mrs. Frank
Becker, Kitchener, and. Mrs. Carl
Feeney, Seaforth; and three broth-
ers, Jack, New Hamburg; Sylves-
ter, Niagara Falls, and Augustus,
Seaforth.
The funeral will take place Fri-
day at 9.30 a.m from the G. A.
Whitney Funeral Home to St.
James' Church, with Rev. Father
E. P. Weber singing Requiem High
Mass. Interment will be in St.
James' cemetery.
LATE ALEX• T. SIMPSON
A funeral service was conducted
last Friday at the Whitney Funeral
Honie' 'for Alexander Thompson
Simpson, Tuckersmith, who died in
his sleep early Wednes.day morn-
ing, in this 80th year. Although he
had been ailing, his death was
quite unexpected.
Mr. Simpson was, born in Gills.
Scotland, and came to Canada 42
years ago. He was a- stone mason
by trade, having cut stone for the
Casa Loma and Eaton Memorial
Chureh, Toronto, as well as for
other notable buildings. In later
years he farmed. in Tuckersmith.
He was a life member of a Scot-
tish Masonic lodge, having been a
member for over 50 years.
Survivors, besides his wife, the
former Jemima Ihincan, whom the
deceased married in 1905, are one
son, Peter, Tuckersmith, and, one
daughter, Mrs. John Burrows,
Stratford; three granddaughters
and two sisters, Mrs George Gillen,
Muskoka, and Mrs. William Mac-
kay, Scotland.
The pallbearers were Jetties
Love, John McLachlan, 3Omes Doig,
Andrew Houston, John MacKay
and Leslie King, Stratford. The
flower -bearers were Clare Reith,
Scott Cluff, George Kruse and E.
A. 4'Andrews.
Rev. A. W. Gardiner, of Egmend-
vine United Church, officiated, and
burial was in Maitlandbank ceme-
tery.

Reports Profit of $460
From Bazaar arid Sale
The regular meeting of the Cath-
olic Women's League was held
Tuesday evening with the presi
dent, Mrs. Leo Cremin, in the
chair.
The minutes were read by the
secretary. Mrs. Ignatius O'Leary,
first vice-president, reported 81 .paid
members. Miss Rase Dorsey, sec
ond vice-president, reported that
the school children were presented
with a Christmas treat in the form
of Christmas stockings. Nineteen
boxes were sent to the sick and
shut-ins at Christmas. Boys and
girls who wrote their entrance.last
year were presented with achool
pins.
The treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. J. L. Slattery, who also
gave a .complete statement on the
-bazaar. Net profits were $460.03.
The .president introduced the
speaker, Mrs. Joseph McConnell
who told of her trip to the East
Coast. Mrs. Joseph. Rowland' mov-
ed a vote of thanks to the speaker,
and Mrs. J. M. McMillan and Mr.e
John James served lunch,
