Mission Band Holds Tea. — On
'Cliursda, Oct. 25, the Goforth
Mission Mand of First Presbyter-
ian Church held a very successful
tea iu the church basement. 'Phe
room was decorated iu the Hal-
lowe'en theme of orange,tand black
with orange-t'imniA1 black witch
hats centering each small table,
and bowls of calendula on the tea
table and about the roots. Mrs. D.
Glenn l'amplbell and Miss Belle
Campbell poured tea. The mem-
bers of the Mission Band served.
Mrs. J. A. Murray, Mrs. D. Stewart
and Mrs- D. N. Eastman. leaders of
the Mission Band, cont rued the
tea.

Funeralof the Late Dr. Sloan.—
Funeral services were held Friday
afternoon for Dr, William Sloan,
of Seaforth, formerly of Hullett
and Toronto, who died Wednesday
in Westminster Hospital, London.
Rev. D. Glenn Campbell, of First
Presbyterian Church conducted the
services. The pallbearers were Rex
McGregor, Fred Johnston, Thos.
Beattie, Wilson Allan, Geo. Sloan,
Blyth, and A. Coombs, Stratford,
Interment took place in Londes-
boro cemetery.
Fortner Resident Dies in London.
—A veteran of 'four years service
with the 'toys; Canadian Air
Force, Harold F. McKinley, 48, of
214 Ridout St. South, London. died
at Westminster Hospital on Thurs-
day of last week after a week's ill-
ness. He was a. watchmaker and
jeweller by trade, Before going to
London four years ago he operated
a store in Ingersoll. At one lime
he resided for a time in Seaforth
with his parents. Mr. McKinley
was an adherent of Wesley•United
Church. His father, the Rev. Geo.
McKinley, a retired United Church
minister. predeceased him in Sep-
tember.9Surviving are his wife, the
former Marjorie Staples; a son,
Peter: a daughter, Sally, all of In-
gersoll, and a sister, Mrs, Frank
(Clara) Ball, London. The body
rested at the James E. Gordanier
funeral home where service was
conducted by the Rev. F. H. Joblin
at 3 .p.m, Saturday. Burial was in
Maitlandbank Cemetery, Seaforth.

On Friday evening a successful
euchre was held in the Commun-
ity Hall when cards and dancing
were, enjoyed. The Belgrave Jun-
ior Farmers' orchestra supplied the
music for dancing and a lunch
counter did a thriving business.

chased a bull from Wm, McLean &
Sons. of .Kerw•ood, Mr. Smith at-
tended the auction sale in the
Western Fair barns al Loudon and
made the purchase. This pure-bred
bull will add a great deal to Mr.
Smith's herd of cattle.
