The Board unklertook extensive
maintenance this year. No. 4 and
No. 7 Sehools were interior decor-
ated. No. 2 School had roof and
trim painted. A new asphalt ehin-
gle roof was applied to•No. 7. The
-floors of the schools were sanded
and a door cleaning and polishing
machine bought. H. McLeod was
engaged to operate et. New desks
and seat for No. 4 were supplted.
Owing to increased costs it is prob•
able that the Area Board will ask
for a tax levy of •around 51k milts.

The Salvation Atmy officers'
quarters are at present undergoing
minor changes. The living room at
the south side oe the building is
being extended, where the verandah
formerlystood. New lighting fix-
tures are also being lustalled., as
well as a new landing and esair-
case.
.A. rigid transformation is also
taking place on the grounds sur-
rounding the Army hall and quar-
ters,. The former field of weeds. has
been plowed, disked and raked, and
by next summer ie expected to be a
place of usefulness and beauty.
Plans are being made to plant a
heage and flowers on the north
side, as well as sow a lawn on the
north and east. The back portion
'sill be used; as a place of recrea
tion for young .people.e In this re-
gard, lawn croquet and volleyball
equipment will be obtained.

The Hospital Aid to Scott Mem
oriel Hospital held their second
meeting of the year at the nurses'
residence with Mrs. A. W. Settee
in the chair. The minutes and
treasurer's report were read and
adopted. Final arrengements were
made for redecorating the nurseee
residence, starting with the kitch-
en. It was also decided to hold a
turkey raffle in December.
