Mr. Don Bell, son of Mr. and
Mrs. W. F. Bell, of Kippen, left
for Guelph Monday, where he will
take a two years associate course
at the O.A.C., Guelph.
Miss Betty Mickle, who is at-
tending the University of Western
Ontario, London, spent the week-
end at her home here.
Mrs. E- Dean, Toronto, was a
Thanksgiving guest with Mr. and
Mrs. A. Noakes.
Reports from St. Joseph's Hospi-
tal, London, stated that the condi-
tion of David Siddall, of near Den-
field, was good. David, 15, 'son of
Mr. Leroy Siddall, had his leg
amputated four inches below the
knee at the hospital. The accident
happened on Thanksgiving Day
when David slipped into a corn -
shredder on his father's farm. He
was released by his older brother.
Dr, A. E. Letts, Ailsa Craig, at-
tending physician, stated that the
boy's right leg was shredded by
the machine. David is the nephew
of Miss Flora Petty and Mr. Jas.
Petty, Hensall. His mother, who
passed away a few years ago, was
the former Sarah Petty, of Hensall.

The South Huron Sectional meet-
ing of Huron Presbytery of the
United Church was held in the
Uhited Church at Grand Bend on
Tuesday. Oct. 10. There were re-
presentatives from all the church-
es. Mrs. Emery Desjardine, vice-
president, very ably presided and
gave a hearty welcome to those
present. She said in retrospect:
This 25th anniversary year has
been an outstanding one for the
United Church from coast to coast.
In this first meeting of the next 25
years we should loot ahead at the
challenge of the future. The auxil-
iary of Greenway Church had
charge of the morning worship ser-
vice. Good reports were given by
the delegates from the various
churches and secretaries of depart-
ments. Mrs. J. Glenn, of Chisel-
hurst, gave a splendid paper on
"The 'Stewardship of Personality."
Mrs, T. Coates, Hensall, sang an
appropriate solo, "There's a New
Day Dawning."'Miss Sybil Courtice,
a missionary, who has spent forty
years in Japan, gave a 'heart-s4ir-
ing address on the present day in
Japan, its devastation and need,
.the characteristic courage,- of the
people, and the wide-open oppor-
tunity for missionary and relief
work. Four C.G.I.T. girls of ,Grand
Bend -Church, with their leader,
Mrs. W. Wood, presented a playlet
which explained the crest of the
United Church of Canada. The lad-
ies'of the entertaining church serv-
ed a bountiful dinner between the
morning and, afternoon sessions.

Church was received to 'hold the
Sectional meeting there next, year.
Mrs. Harry Buttery, of San Fran-
cisco, has spent two months visit-
ing with her sister, Mrs. John
