her sister, Mra. George Boyd.
which occurred in the Fort Elnie
Hospital. Mrs. Boyd was the for-
mer Margaret Noble, of Seaforth,
and following her marriage resid-
ed in Seaforth for a time. Mr. and
Mrs. Boyd also lived in Saskatoon
for over 30 years. Surviving are
three sons and her sister, Mrs.
Thompson. The remains were tak-
en to Saskatoon for interment.

Young Adults Group Meets.—The
May meeting of Northside United
Church Young Adults Group was
held Monday evening at 8 p.m.. in
the Parsonage. The meeting op-
ened with the hymn, "Jesus Calls
Us." After •the Scripture reading
by Jean Pinder, Thelma Elgie led
n prayer. Mr. E. C. Boswell, the
evening speaker, gave some timely
advice on. investments and mort-
gages and also some beneficial re-
marks for everyday living. A vote
of thanks to Mr, Boswell for his
interesting talk was moved by
Jean Pinder. The meeting closed
with the hymn, "He Leadeth Me;'
followed by the Mizpah benedic-
tion.

Psalm 33 and prayer by Mrs. D.
Aikenhead. The _Christian. Stew -k
ardship reading on "Advance" was
given by Mrs. J. Finlayson. The
temperance reading, "Death Rides
the Highway When Drink Takes
the Wheel," was given by Mrs. C.
C. •Kaine. An invitation from Win-
throp Caven W.M.S. was accepted
for a meeting together on June 8.
Roll call and minutes were given
by the secretary, Mrs. A. Port
eous. Mrs. J. Finlayson gave the
-treasurer's report in the absence
of Miss A. Ferguson. Mrs. W. Hay,

of the Huron Presbyterial held at
Hensall. The theme of the meet-
ing for the day was "Super Power
For Super Service." Hymn 252,
verses 3 and 4, were sung and the
meeting closed with all repeating
the Lord's Prayer.

steps at her home and break her
ankle. .She is in Scott Memorial
Hospital.

Mrs, Peter 'Kraft, 90, a resident
of Dashwood 40 years, died et her
home here on Monday from effects
of a fall in December in which she.
fractured her hip. She and her
husband, peter Kraft, marked the
nn
70th aiv rsary of their marriage
on March 11. Mr. Kraft will be 93
on July 3. Mrs. Kraft was born in
Wilmot Township and came tp this
section after her marriage. She and
Mr, Kraft farmed in Stephen be-
fore retiring and coming to Dash-
wood to reside. She was an active
worker In the Ladies' Aid of Zion
Lutheran Ohurch for many years.
Surviving besides her husband are
one son, Edmund, Dashwood, ,and
three daughters: Mrs. Fred Rader,
Dashwood; Mrs. Victor Heywood,
Exeter; Mrs. Dora Stadelbauer,
London; nine grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren. A private fun-
eral eervlce was held at the family
residence on Wednesday at 2 p.m.,
followed by Aublie services in Zion
Lutheran Church at 2.30 by Rev.
L. Hignel1. Interment was in the
Lutheran Bronson- Line Cemetery.

Mr. Robert Dayman spent the
week -end in London, the guest of
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin- Johnston.
Mrs. Jennie Winder, who has
been visiting friends in Brantford,
is now visiting with friends in Lon-
don.
Mr. Arthur Anderson has return-
ed from St. Joseph's Hospital in
London, where he has been taking
treatments, and is much improved.
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Peck have
announced the engagement of their
youngest daughter, Marion Grace,
to Robert Jackman, of Detroit,
Mjeh., the marriage to take place
quietly the latter part of 1N�Cay.
Mr. Waffle McBeath, Bruce -
field, is dismantling his fo' ranch
and Merman Long has purchased
and moved two of these fox pens,
to his new property on the high-
way, to be used as chicken rune.
Mr. Wm. Ivison, who spent the
winter with friends in Toronto,
Peterborough and London, return-
ed to his home in Kippen on Mon-
day.
Mr. Wagner, of Guelph, return-
ed to his home on Thursday last,
after spending a few days with his
sister, Mrs. McClymont.
W. M. S. Meets
The W.M.S. of St, Andrew's
United Church _net on Wednesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs. El-
don Jarrett with 18 members and
several visitors answering the roll
call with the letter 'E'. The presi-
dent, Mrs. Robt: Elgie, opened the
meeting with the theme, "New-
comers, To Canada." Hymn 251,
verses 1 and 2, was then sung. Mra.
A. Gackstetter read the Scripture,
Psalm 31, verses 1 to 8 and 14 to
24 and led in 'prayer. Verses 3
and 4 of• Hymn 252 were sung and
the minutes and roll call were
taken by the secretary, Mrs. John
Anderson. A poem in honor of
"Mother" was given by Mrs. Mor-
ley Cooper. During .the .business
discussion .Mrs. Robt. Elgie and
Mrs. J. McLean were electedto
visit the shut-ins for the next
month. The secretary read three
letters of thanks from Mr. and
Mrs. Mark Drysdale, Mrs. Win.
Workman and Mrs. Bert Peck.
Hymn 256 was sung and Mrs. John
Sinclair gave a report of the Pres-
byterial held in Hensall recently.
Mrs. Harry Caldwell gave the
study, "Book of Rules." .Marie Jar-
rott favored with a piano instru-
mental, "Yellow Butterfly." Hymn
No. 259 was sung and Mrs. Elgie
closed the meeting with the oene-
diction. A dainty lunch was serv-
ed by Circle No. 1.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Priestly and
family, of Alsia Craig, and Miss
Verna Linden, of Denfield, visited
on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Archie Parsons.

ing the rounds in this community.

Y.P.U. Hold Anniversary
The Y.P.U. of St. Andrew's Unit-
ed Church held their annual spring
anniversary on Sunday .last with a
very good attendance at both ser-
vices. Large bouquets of spring
flowers beautified the sanctuary.
The guest speaker at the morning
service was Mrs. Wu, of China,
and her timely message was enjoy-
ed by all. Special music was furn-
ished by the choir under the lead-
ership of Miss Jean Ivison, the
morning anthem being "Stand Up
For Jesus." A quartette, consisting
of Misses Bernys McClinchey,
Mona Caldwell and Dan Bell and
Edison McLean, sang 'BetheI." The
evening service at 7.39 was honor-
ed by the presence of Rev. Wil-
liams, Chaplain of the R.C.A.F.
Station, Centralia. The choir chose'.
for their anthem, "I Heard the
Voice of Jesus Say" and "He is
My Song," with Bernys McClin
they and Don Bell taking the duet
parts.

Church here on Monday evening.
