Women's Hospital Aid Will Meet---.
The regular meeting of the Hospital
Aid will be held on Thursday, May 6,
at the home of M. A. Reid at 8.15 Pin;
Will Meet.—The Seaforth and Dia-
trict Ministerial Association will meet
on Monday, May 3, at 2 p.m., at the
Manse of Winthrop United Church,
The paper will be presented by the
Rev. C. F. L. Gilbert, and all mem-
bers are urged to be present.
•Death of Mrs. Edward Welch.—The
`death occurred in Clinton on Thurs-,
day, April 22, of Zelma Vletori•a,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.
H. Holland, former residents of Sea -
forth, and beloved wife of Mr. Edward
Welch, of Clinton, in her 55th year.
She was born at Orval, Ont., and was
married 35 years ago to her now be-
reaved husband, who togethea with
two daughters, Mrs. Harold Tyndall,
of Goderich Township, and Mrs. Rath -
well, survive. She is also survived by
three sisters: Mrs. Arthur Welch,
Goderich Township; Mrs. Matt. Nedi-
ger, Clinton, and Mrs. M. Ross Sav-
auge, Seaforth. Deceased was edu=
Gated at S.S. No. 1, Goderich Twp.,
and Clinton Collegiate Institute, and
was a member of Ontario St. United
Church, Clinton. She was particular-
ly active in Red- Cross work. The
largely attended funeral took place
on Saturday from the Bell Funeral.
Home, Clinton, with Rev. W. J. Wol-
frey officiating. Interment was in
Clinton cemetery.

Former Resident Dies in Belleville.
—The death occurred at her home,
128 Bridge St. W., Belleville, on Sat--
urday, April 24, of Christena MacLar-
en, beloved wife of Mr. George A.
Stewart, former residents of Seaforth,
where Mr. Stewart. his brother, An-
drew, and Duncan McCallum were
partners or the Ogilvie Flour
Mill, Mrs. Stewart was in her 77th
year, and was born at Cromarty. They
left Seaforth about 33 years ago and
went to Orangeville, later moving to
Belleville, where they have resided'
errs since. She is survived by her
husband two daughters, 'Mrs, A. D.
Nile;, of Mimico, and- Mrs. J. K. Rob-
erston of Calgary, Alta., and one son,
Dr. Gordon A. Stewart, a successful
dentia in Belleville. She is also sur-
vived bg a 'sister, Mrs. G. A. Bean, of
Auburn, and a brother, William Mac -
Lar !t, Seaforth. :Mrs. Stewart had a
kindly disposition and will • be great-
ly missed in the home which always
lied first place in her thoughts, She
was a faithful member of the United
Church and a life member of the W.

April meeting of the Senior Auxiliary
of the Women's Missionary Society
was held in First Presbyterian
Church, Tuesday. with Mrs. S. Rit-
chie presiding, The meeting opened
with singing of Hymn 19,•followed by
prayer by Mrs. Ritchie. Reports of
the secretary and treasurer were re-
ceived and business transacted. In-
teresting features of the meeting held
in Caven Presbyterian Church, Exe-
ter,,, celebrating the fiftieth annivers-
ary of their auxiliary of the Women's
Missionary Society of the Presbyter-
ian Church in Canada, were brought
by Mrs. Robert Eberhart and Mrs. 3.
Thompson.... Mrs, Charles Aberhart
was in charge for the remainder of
the meeting, Hymn 645, Bible read-
ing, Mt•s. Bickell; prayer, Mrs. J.
G. Mullen; solo, Mrs. J, M. Govenlock.
The third chapter, "Lord of the Lands
Make Canada Thine Own," 'from the
study book, was taken by Mrs. Chas.
Aberhart, Mrs. Harry Stewart, Mrs.
Helen McMillan and Mrs. John Beat-
tie. After singing Hymn 649, the
meeting closed with prayer by Mrs.
Robert Eberhart and Lord's Prayer in
unison.

Church, Logan, was the Scene of a
marriage Saturday morning at 9.30
o'clock when Helen Carmellta, daugh-
ter of Mi'. and Mrs. Michael Haggarty,
West Moulton, became the bride of
Mr. Robert Joseph Devereaux, Lon-
don, son of Mr. and 'Mrs. Jahn Dev-
ereaux, Seaforth. ,Pink carnations
and pink and white snapdragon adorn-
ed the altar. Rev. S. E. White, Ayl-
mer, uncle of the bride, officiated at
the ceremony. Rev, E. Veitenheimer
was in the Sanctuary" Given in mar-
riage by her father, the bride wore
an afternoon dress of ice blue tissue
faille with a matching headdress of
nylon straw with a shawl veil, She
wore lace mittens and carried a white
prayer book with streamers entwined
with forget-me-nots, Her corsage bou-
quet was Better Times Roses and
sweet peas. Her only ornament was
a"double strand of pearls, a gift of
the bridegroom, A sister of the bride-
groom, Miss Helen Devereaux, Lon-
don, was bridesmaid, With her pink
bengaline taffeta frock she Wore a
matditing mohair headdress and laze
mittens, iter corsage was of pink
carnations and Better Times 'roses.

For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Hag-
garty had chosen a dress of navy blue
crepe with navy accessories and a
corsage of American Beauty roses.
The bridegroom's mother was dressed
iu black crepe with which she wore
black and white accessories• and an
American Beauty rose corsage. A
three-tier wedding cake centred the
bridal table at the wedding breakfast
at the Windsor Hotel, Stratford,
where bouquets of spring flowers were
used in decoration. A reception fol-
lowed at the home of the bride's par-
ents. The bridegroom presented the
bridesmaid with a gold bracelet. His
gift to the best man was a fountain
pen, and to the soloist, golden ear-
rings - For a honeymoon trip to Chi-
cago, the bride donned a navy check-
ed suit with which she wore navy
accessories and a corsage of red ros-
es. Upon their return the couple will
reside at 107 Marley Place, London.
Guests at the wedding were present
from Stratford, Seaforth, Toronto,
London, Brantford, Galt and Aylmer.
Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary Meets.
—The April meeting of the Barbara
Kirkman Auxiliary of First Presby-
terian Church was held on Tuesday
evening, A dep'artuae from the regu-
lar program consisted of a number
over Wingham radio station in which
Rev. David McCullouch, of Tara, in-
terviewe•d ,Rev. Lazseos A, Borsay, • a
minister to the Hungarian Presbyter-
ians in Tillsonburg and vicinity. In
replying to the many questions of Mr.
McCullouch, Mr. Borsay told of his
experiences in his native land be-
fore leaving it, his coming to Can-
ada, his reception here, and the work
he is carrying on for his own coun-
trymen. One thing Mr. Borsay stress-
ed was Canadians were not apprecia-
tive of their freedom, of their social
condition, and failed to realize the
suffering and distress of the peoples

in Brantford on 'Tuesd'ay , to Mount
Hope Cemetery. Mr. Roth was in his
76th year.
