Rainting was quite an enjoyable 00-
4upatUon for' .several days at ' S R,S„
Sou of the boys• f°volunteered" to
paint the neW chicken house. It was
Prob:0bly,the slowest painting job of
its ' size % on record, but fors some
strange reason, every. boy came 131
from each session at the job smell-
ing of carrot,. potato and; turnip. And
it is a sure bet that their respective
,mothers wondered why their appe-
tites we'ren't up • top par at the meal
,immediately following the "painting"
period.
As you all know, last Monday the
seventh and last game of the World
'Series was played. Many of 'the stu-
dents at S.H.S. are avid baseball fans',
who will go to great lengths to heat
or get some kind of play-by-play re-
port of the game. For that„ a radio
is necessary. So a .radio had to be
procured, a small, easily concealed,
portable. radio, which one could lis
ten to in class without its being dis-
covered. So a . small battery radio
made its apiSearance in school Mon-
day afternoon, carefully hidden in a
school bag. The radio was listened
to, through ' one entire English per-
iod, without the teacher knowing it,
and also through part of a Math per-
iod, Another period it was hidden in'
the hall and the boys took turns
"Leaying the room" to get the score.
For the .'tenth period, or spare,
it was brought into the open, and .Ane
Form heard the last two innings of
the World Series. (Of course, I
wouldn't think of telling who brought
the radio, and what Form enjoyed it, -
but it's darned funny that yours truly
and Fourth Form knew the final score
before anyone else did,!,
Question of the Week
Why has Zeke decided to keep
birthdays a secret from now on?
TThjs Week ' At the Seaforth .ugh itool
( By ./ack W apace)
Hi, people.l Here 'we are again with
another session of news,and nothing
important abou:t,S.H:S,
This has been what one might eaU
an "indefinite" sort of week. First
off, we heard- that we would be get -
4 ting a holiday"on, Friday, but it was
, "'indefinite" as to what Friday• is the
rchosen one, Also several rugby games
have been arranged with St. Marys,
but the date and place of the first one
is "indefinite." (It may be next
'Thursday). Here's anoter one: It's a
tradition for the losing team on Field
Day to give a party for the winning
.team. Rumor had it that it was to
.be this Friday night, Oct. 10, 'Mit ev-
erything was "indenite." 'One of the
-few definite things in the whole week
was the face that Seaforth wais com-
pletely beaten, overwhelmed, sub-
merged, smothered, -or.. in a word,
licked in the H.S.S.A. Track and
r .Field Meet in Clinton last Friday. We
were so thorough!y shellacked that it
'would he somewhat embarrassing to.
give `the. totals, but it will do to say
t
that the winning: team had over three
times as many gointe' as we did. The
order of the teal's' standillig?s were:
Goderich,' Clinton, Wingham,. and! --
guess who!, However. there were
several redeeming features about 'the
day. 'Chief among these was Donna
Watson's winning of the Cup for the
Senior. Girls' 'Championship, with 13
ppints. Another was the flay itself -
warm, sunny, and a holiday.
Oh well, even if we did . lose the
meet we're still the undisputed rug.:
By champions of Huron CountY. What
a record! Unbeaten, untied, unscor-
ed upon! There's only one hitch -we
have the one and only rugby tears in
Huron County, and we haven't played!
anygames as yet. Well, anyway, if
anyone asks you how our rugby team
is making out, dust • tell them we're,
the Huron County champions, and let
it go at that.
